Maybe. I think that Mr. Kojima overdid it in MGS3 with Ocelot, but, well...
And, i thenk that Hideo will wait till PS3 system will be completely mastered (i mean, all programming stuff, libraries and tech abilities of a hardware).

Wouldn't doubt the possibilty that it would be a few years, especially since MGS4 isn't coming out until next year and it generally seems to take a few years for Kojima to make a great game. Still i think it could be a good idea if done right, since ocelot had a good bit of story, he was Foxhound member so he most likely did some of the ol' "one man infiltration" thing. Also if the ability to join the ranks of a country (as a spy) works out right, it could make a game. Besides that, in MGS3 he did seem to have become pretty important plot wise from Snake Eater to Outer Heaven and he did show off some CQC techniques when going one on one with Snake. Only part that seemed a bit off was the ability to "spin and shoot" guns. Anyway right now I'm just looking forward to getting a PS3 and MGS4, anything beyond that will have to wait it's turn.
The Foxhound featured in MGS was not like the original Foxhound at all... Doubt Octopus, Mantis or even Wolf have the physical prowess to even compare to Snake/Fox's abilities... And Ocelot was too damn old, so of course there wasn't any deep thought process behind the recruitment of the new "Foxhound" other than assembling a bunch of freaks to do the chores... Think "Dead Cell"... I doubt there was any deep significance to the team...
Now enter crusher and have him tell me I'm all wrong and shit...
A game with Ocelot as the hero...? No... How would he go against the Patriots and Metal Gear...?
Well not against them....my idea was something along the lines of Ocelot in 1970-1980 where he helps the Patriots by going up against the Philosophers (Soviet and Chinese). Also its possible that they may have had some type of Metal Gear since after all Volgin made one out of pretty much nothing and Big Boss somehow managed to create one without the original plans (at least from my understanding) although keep in mind that Ocelot seemed to be in the CIA much like Naked Snake and may have ended up working with him at some point (he seemed to know BB quite well and spent a lot of time with the clones after seemingly only meeting BB once). Besides I posted it mostly to see if anyone might have gotten the same impression, since I have no proof at all that it is or is not going to happen, that's Crusher's department. Maybe we should stop with these posts as they are kind of getting off the topic of MGS4 (still can't wait to see what that'll be like when actually playing it. the vids rock and the graphics are great so i'm not totally concerned that it'll suck)
Excellent idea. You also might want to play through MGS1,2 and 3 again because your understanding is slightly off.... I'm not going into detail because this isn't the place for it... just play the games again because I get the impression you missed alot of information.Quote:

Most likely did, they are really complex games and i leave it up to people like you to correct my stupidity. Anyway its not like I wasn't planning on playing a bunch of them again sometime anyway. Anyway I'm going to leave now and give the board back to people who know what they're talking about.
Big Boss didn't create Metal Gear. It was a professor known as Petrovitch. However I'm not sure if he started working on Metal Gear BEFORE or AFTER being brought to Outer Heaven. And I'm not sure how he ended up knowing about Metal Gear in the first place. Or perhaps, Big Boss had the idea of such a weapon since he saw the original plans and told Petrovitch to create such a weapon. The world may never know.
Oh and apparently Ocelot and Big Boss only meet twice. Once in Snake Eater, and the next time Ocelot along with Sniper Wolf, Decoy Octopus, Psycho Mantis and Vulcan Raven were hired as Big Boss's personal bodyguards (or similiar). Note that I'm not sure if Liquid was part of this group back then. After Big Boss died their contracts were bought buy FOXHOUND. I recall all this being mentioned in Metal Gear Solid.
Just to clarify - Volgin didn't make the Shagohad, that was Sokolovs' doing.... and the plans came from Director Granin and Dr Emmerich (Otacon's Father). There is a part in MGS3 where you meet up with Granin, and he even discusses the Rex and Ray bipedal models, but the Russians opted for a more practical machine since it would have been too hard to develop the aforementioned gears. Anyway, I'm guessing the plans got passed to Big Boss later on down the line, then Dr Pettrovich created both gears in MG 1 and 2. The torch then passed onto Otacon who created the bipedal Rex. After that, it's a bit shaky since after the Shadow Moses event "every industrialized nation" has a version of Metal Gear.
With Ocelot being a triple crosser, it's hard to say where he stands, but he is responsible in some way for all these metal gears. Most likely, he snatched the plans (or they were just given to him by the Patriots, etc) and sent them through the chain of command, eventually ending up in Big Boss's hands. There's definately some gray areas in the storyline, but hopefully when MGS3 Subsitance is released, we'll get good translations of MG1 and 2 and maybe get some documentation to fill in the missing events. If MGS4 is going to be the be all, end all of MG, then I would say we'll get filled in some way or another.
I still think Ocelot is gonna end up being a good guy, or atleast as good as a murderous bastard like him COULD be. I mean hey, he is the son of the Boss.... and she fought for her country even though it meant she had to go down as a traitor. Sure, he's a bad guy, but then again, who isn't bad in Metal Gear? It's hard to tell, and it gets harder as they make more games. I always thought Big Boss was supposed to be this Uber asshole, but what do you know.... he's a good guy who fought for his purpose, much like the Boss.
Anyway, i'm conjuring up theories in my head as to what might happen in the new game, and I'm starting to think Big Boss will return. He is dead, but Liquid's goal has been to resurrect him from the start, which i'm almost certain we'll see at some point in MGS4. It could be at the beginning, middle or end, but i bet it will happen.
Ocelot - Big Boss's son? No way...
May be Ocelot WAS good, in MGS3, when he didnt want to shoot comrade soldiers, or where he left the plane in the end MGS3. But, i think he is a Patriot's puppet, in MGS2 at least.
BTW, people, there's a lots of russian words in MGS series %)
"Petrovitch" in Russia is a very common surname, just like "Smith" in England %))
Well by Volgin i kind of meant the scientists working under him (mostly Solkolov) and by Big Boss i kind of meant the scientists working for him ( Never played through the MG and MG2 completely so I only know of Petrovich being mentioned in MGS in one of the story summaries).
And Urn, FlavaFave was referring to THE Boss (aka The Joy) not BIG boss as being the parent of Ocelot. This I believe is mentioned through a radio conversation with Eva and the boss's speach before the final battle. Basically they don't say completely that Ocelot was her son, just that its VERY likely since the birth of boss' son and the birth of Ocelot were very similar. Thanks for everyone correcting me it helped me understand everything much better =)
Granin told Snake that he was going to send the plans of Metal Gear to his friend in the States. Prolly Petrivoch dude.
Nope. He was talking about Otacon's grandfather. However he never sent them away as...
A) Volgin killed him.
B) Ocelot took the plans.
Once again I'm proved to be an idiot.
Ain't we all? :P
