And yeah most of the old cart systems are very reliable. Early CD systems though....tend to be pieces of crap.
Lens's are typically alot more sensitive and complex than connector pins. :P

I'm aware of why and obviously it's no surprise that early versions of something are a bit finnicky. I expect I will have to repair my SUPER CDROM2 attachment some day. Whereas I doubt I will ever have to fix my SNES, Core Grafx, Genny etc...
I bought my Sega CD (model 2) non-functional but got it working pretty easily.
Just took it apart, cleaned it, greased the gears and put it all back together.. I was figuring to have to replace the lens but didn't have to.
My Gamegear on the other hand I am going to have to send to someone much more skilled than me.
