I'm thinking about switching to 10Mb cable. The only thing that bothers me is I believe they have a limit on newsgroup downloads...

But, lately, I haven't been getting too many things from newsgroups.

I can get Digital Cable, Internet Home Phone and 10Mb Internet for $117. Right now my Phone bill is $125 by itself, $35 for DSL, and about $120 for satellite.

I'd say it's worth it. You subscribe to other newsgroup things with the money you save and still have some left over, right?

Half-Life 2's max settings were aimed at a P4 3.0 Ghz, 1 GB RAM, Radeon 9800 when they built the game.
Also, HL2 is designed with ATI cards in mind over NVidia, so a Radeon x1550 would get a performance bonus as well. :O

I don't get it. I fixed my compile errors, which was preventing the visibility optimization part of the compiler from working (I had some spheres and cylinders that turned my BSP cuts into a giant jumbled mess, which was a problem), but my performance issues with the level haven't gone away, it's exactly the same. For some reason, the more of the floor is onscreen for the player, the lower the FPS is. I've tried changing the texture to something less complicated, at a lower resolution, and changing the texture resolution setting ingame to "low" and none of these has any effect on it. x_x I don't get it. Wtf is wrong with my floor!?
