Localizing social references doesn't bother me, it's blatantly putting in stuff that doesn't belong that I feel unacceptable (like XSEED's AdolxDogi inuendo). I read that WD even put a romance between two characters that wasn't originally there in some game.
If the original Exile didn't destroy the setting by referencing something in modern day, then I don't think the translation should. They should keep with the intended theme, at least, not try to make a comedy out of something that isn't one.
As for the difficulty, some people like more of a challenge, but simply doubling enemy stats and halving player stats can make things tedious. Standing in place hitting something over and over long after it should have died destroys an action game's pacing, I think. But then, Vic flat out admitted that the times they tried that, mistakes were made because of the way it had to be done (calculate values, submit them to developer, wait for the product, recalculate values, submit, push back release, etc.). So those weren't intentional sabotage, just blundered tweaks. Like XSEED, I do give them props for bringing over some amazing games; much of the West's RPG market is due to their influence.
;P
I still check in for anything to respond to occasionally. I'm random like that. ;D
We should all get together and play bridge. We can sip cider, and if things get REALLY interesting--ie. drunk--we can all rub icy hot on each others joints.
*dirty old man*
I feel like you just hit on me, and I'm not sure if I should feel flattered or slightly creeped out. :dread:
