*crosses fingers* Here's hoping they don't take till '07. (hmmm.. That'd be one hell of a move).
MGS4 though... I think they could put it out as a release title, at least basing it all on the tech progress we've seen so far. It's certainly not underdeveloped.
-
I'm certainly hoping that MGS4 will be a launch title. Especially if PS3 launches here in EU next fall/winter. A new Metal Gear on a new console = gaming bliss!
-
I doubt this will be a PS3 launch title, but I sure as hell hope it is. If it isn't, no biggie.... that just means it will be bigger and badder than it already is.
And as for having an old Snake now, I think that's way cool.... this is the first time ever a video game character has really grown up, and I think this game will be the end of an era. It's cool that we probably won't play as Snake ever again.... Don't get me wrong, I love the guy, but it's time to move on. Kojima will make this game his swan song and probably pass off the franchise to some other producers, and they'll use Raiden for upcoming games. I actually like Raiden... .he's a bit of a bitch, but he just needs some field experience and he needs to dump Rose. Knowing Kojima, Snake will end up being Raiden's field advisor in upcoming games (aka Col Campbell) and I really think that would be bad ass. Hell, maybe even Snake will turn to the dark side, or maybe nothing is as it seems. Anyway, just wanted to throw in my two cents. Thank you Hideo Kojima for your wonderful storytelling.
-
I was thinking, what if Raiden is actually working for one of the other "sides" in this war? Could be interesting...
And I believe you are right, this will be the final game with Snake. Future Metal Gear games that stay faithful to the MGS storyline, most likely will feature Raiden in the main character seat.

I'm positively positive that the shit is really gonna hit the fan in this one. I don't think any of us can even fathom what is gonna happen. Everything we know and love about MGS is gonna be uprooted in this game most likely, which is a good thing. I can see the gaming articles now, "MGS4 leaves gamers perplexed, confused, shocked.... and wanting more." I'm gonna laugh my ass off if Ocelot turns out to be a good guy at the end.
As for the time frame of this game, I'll bet it's between 7 and 10 years after MGS2 (you can't possibly believe they manufactured new Metal Gear units and not to mention 100s of them in only a two year time period, and I don't buy the accelerated aging shit ( i know it's stated, but it woudn't do that much damage to him in a 2 year period) .... Otacon looks older now, maybe early 40ish, and Snake was already approaching 40 or in his early 40's for MGS2, so that would make sense with him being gray and all. I just still can't get over how neat it is that he's old and refined now... and since he knows CQC, he's gonna be unstoppable. Kojima loves movies like the Rock, obiously, and you can't tell me that Sean Connery wasn't a friggin pimp in that movie even though his character was in his 60s.... Just imagine how badass Snake will be. He may be getting slower, but he's tougher than a brick shit-house and paired with a smarter, more battle hardened Raiden he's gonna kick some serious ass.
-
Hah well said! Can't agree more.
About the time frame though, remember that Metal Gearr units where already developed all over the world prior to MGS2. Thanks to Ocelot and his doing. I cannot wait to see what other Metal Gear variations one will see in this game. Not that I do not thing these "Moonlight" shown in the trailer are awesome. Yoji Shinkawa(I think) stated during TGS that they are half mechanic, half organic. And he thought that perhaps this is the future or machinery. Nice. :]
-
Sounds like crap... When Kojima said you could shoot their legs and watch them organic fluids flow out, I was like "WTF? NO!!"... This sucks... If it had been an organic neural center (Robocop? Cain?) I would've been more appeased...
-
Bla bla bla. I don't have to listen to this.
*puts hands over ears*
-
Old snake is actually a metal gear!!!!111111 :O
-
I thinX you are right! :O!

Here's an update - I'm sure most of you following this game have seen this, but it's worth adding to the thread. Apparantly the game won't take place as far into the future as originally thought, and some new tidbits on gameplay are revealed. Read about it here.
The warfare psychology sounds pretty neat. Here's hoping they do alot with it!

Rofl. Hideo was too chicken to go to boot camp, so he sent the rest of his staff. Roflroflroflrofl.
-
Thanks for the update FlavaFave. Can't say I didn't know about that info though, but it sure was in "clearer" words...
-
Yeah, it isn't much but atleast it will cease some people from throwing out some wild theories :-) and it's nice to get some confirmation on things.
-
Speaking of wild theories:
Hmmm infiltrating countries in MGS4, a SAA weapon in MGS3, and Ocelot being a CIA agent and Foxhound member in MGS 1&2.....anyone getting the odd feeling that Kojima may be planning a game with Ocelot as a main character, possibly to show some back story (much like MGS3 did with Big Boss)?
