Did you see the press release though? They are not changing anything because of the "artistic integrity" bullshit. They are going to clarify and add closure. Ok I'm fine with that, it was one of my main concerns. But I'd really like them to remove that stupid fucking Catalyst and not shit on their own universe... >___>
And yeah that would've been an amazing ending!
At this point, I kind of agree with not changing the ending, true enough it was a shitty, shitty, shitty ending, but fuck all would get done if a company went back and retconned their endings because they were unsatisfactory. I'm just glad they're going close some of those plotholes, still though, the fact that they have to release a post game DLC to fix it in the first place is bitter. :\
Developers changing isn't anything new really. Bethesda changed Fallout 3's ending because of fan pressure. Prince of Persia 2008 also got a new ending but that was probably planned DLC from the start. Capcom are doing the same thing with Ashura's Wrath as we speak. And I think I read that CD Projekt are changing quite a significant bit of the Witcher 2 and it's ending. I don't think this will become a problem. It's not like developers (even Bioware I'd think...) are deliberately trying to make their endings as bad as possible. :P
But yes this never should've happened.
It's all a matter of catering, granted the endings were bad, but imagine if Shakespeare went back and changed the ending of Hamlet because of fan backlash.
Anyways, I guess the point I'm trying to make is that there is no way Bioware could change the ending to satisfy everyone. As it stands now, the endings are bad; receive backlash, change endings; receive backlash because someones Mary-Sue Shepard doesn't become the Galatic Space Queen and rides away on a chariot pulled by Geth Colossi. The only thing they can do now is at least wrap up the shit storm they created.
On a separate note: Shepard riding a cosmic chariot pulled by Geth Colossi into the horizon would be an amazing ending, I should write for Bioware. :pwacko:
Yeah that's true. The best thing we can hope for is them patching all the plot holes so we can sleep at night... I still wonder though, given this shitstorm, have BW reconsidered their stance on further games in the ME series? Casey Hudson said earlier that he's not interested in continuing the series past ME3 and would rather focus on prequels.
Yes, yes you should! Several Geth Colossi pulling the Normandy around the galaxy would be incredible. :P
ohh how cliche. i called dell support and i get redirected. Again.
They are more concered with why its not in my name on there files...
Why must you people constantly talk ME3? Some of us haven't played it yet. :(
