Besides, memorising the names of those involved in the creation of Japanese RPGs is not high brow. It's just a couple of notches above memorising the history of your favourite wrestler.

You seem to forget that Culise is an army. If I may draw a very high-brow RPG-related analogy, you know that scene in Kingdom Hearts 2 where Sora stands in a canyon filled with thousands upon thousands of low-level enemies? That's FF7. If I was talking about the WWE or such, it'd be the same.

I can trace the lineage of certain indy titles. It's more akin being able to quote Megami Tensei dialogue.
