Or just capture the relics to save on population which you could use for more workers, although if you have tons of gold and not enough other resources eventually the cost for trading for those resources will skyrocket.
:bed:
I always thought they were spaced out in a diagonal shape on the map so they're easy to find.
Is this Age of Empires 2 HD or just regular?
The regular.
Diagonal, you say? :muhaha:
Diamond I meant, there are four relics at the extreme top, left, right and bottom of the map and a fifth one in the center.
Even if you aren't going for a win by relic capturing, holding one denies anyone else from getting a relic victory.
I guess I have to play around with the scenario editor to see what you mean.
btw what do you think is the aoe2-like best RTS? By that I mean best RTS where you have to balance resources and military and mess around with other stuff (like relics) as well?
(I've played some C&C generals, but in it you only manage one resource and there is no age advancing etc. )
The closest one I've played is Empire Earth 2. It has a full blown diplomacy manager, citizen (worker) manager, war plans, etc. You can advance into the future. The problem is its full of bugs and no one seems to like or play it.
But I guess you want more fantasy type stuff???
Umm how about AOE3 or Age of Mythology? :grazy:
I just checked and that doesn't appear to be true. It seems completely random.
Here for instance, there are 3 relics very close together, and the other 2 are far away. The one who stumbles upon them first is the one who'll get lots of relic gold. It's a bit closer to Reds, so Reds have an advantage here. (Edit: Not to mention they have one relic very close to their village)

Or here, each village has a relic very close by. Except cyans. Meaning cyans are at a disadvantage in this map.

tl;dr capturing relics depends on luck a lot.
Hmm, I've seen some AOE3, I defienetlely have to play it at some point. Thing is, the whole system has been redone, so everything I know in AOE2 is useless here, I'll have to start from scratch.
Age of Mythology looks good too, I'll look into it.
One thing I like about Empire Earth is that you start out like AOE2, but you can slowly advance to modern age and then future.
Rise of Nations is like that too, only you can just advance to modern age.
Me and my cousin decided to play some Rise of Nations tomorrow, so I was just wondering if I'm missing anything I could play that better than Rise of Nations, Empire Earth, and AOE2. :lol
:bed:
this time really.
