Actually Inferno, I would really suggest trying lucid dreaming. What you seem to really need is something to distract yourself with and it's a fun concept. Plus if you manage to do it, you can have entertaining dreams as well. :)

This is great advice, if you are aware you're trying to think yourself to sleep you won't fall asleep and it will worry you that you are not asleep but instead if you just think about something for a long time and let your mind wander off thinking about something unrelated to sleep.
I've never purposefully lucid dreamed. I have realized halfway through that I was dreaming, and then promptly forgot again until I woke up with that "damn, I should have tried something cool" feeling ^^;;;
Have you gone to a clinic for it? Sounds like you might want another look at it. :-/
Actually, that's why I started studying Japanese in college - I needed something to do during lectures. :lol Some of my best writing was done during that time, too. I'm way more productive when people are around but I don't pay any attention to them. :wacko:
