Voltron. Yippee.
Been tinkering with this Gigabyte Brix for the last couple of days. I'm super impressed with it for how cheap it was. Passively cooled Celeron J1900 but it never gets more than warm, and there's only the one case fan but it's nearly inaudible even under heavy usage. You can't even hear it with the TV on.
I was going to use Openelec or Kodibuntu as an OS but I couldn't get sound working in Retroarch, so that's a no go. Been testing various Linux distros but I'm installing Mint KDE right now and think I'm going to stick with it. It's fast and it's pretty~
All the less intensive Retroarch cores up to N64 run perfectly. Gonna make a great little emulator box to lug around. Install Steam, have it run in big picture mode at startup, add shortcuts to Retroarch/XBMC, plug in an arcade stick or PS3 controller and it's sorted.
Linux Mint and RA :top:
My main experiences with Linux have been with Kali Linux, Backtrack3 & Ubuntu.
Ubuntu seemed very handy, I have thought about putting a second linux OS in my second monitor in a VM.
Retroarch does have a official Linux distro,

Appreciate it guv.
Also Dragon Slayer and Dynastic Hero. US versions of those if you have them.

Impressive eh?
PSX running on a Pi 2 using the PCSX ReARMed core.
Yeah I don’t use Linux a terrible lot either. I’ve tinkered with most of the Ubuntu based distros though and Mint is always the one I come back to. I’m actually also running Mint XFCE on an old netbook right now and dual booting Mint Cinnamon with Windows 7 on the main PC. Might switch the latter to Mint KDE if I get along with it on the Brix though.
I’ve tried Ubuntu itself but can’t get used to the Unity interface. For me it obfuscates a lot of basic functions and settings that I then have to dig through the terminal for. I think if I was going to use Ubuntu I’d have to go with a different desktop environment, but at that point I may as well just use Mint anyway since it’s the same thing and I prefer the software it comes with.
One of these days I’ll start fucking around with Slackware or Arch, and then I’ll really have no clue what I’m doing.
I'm dying from laughing so hard at this shit
