The hard drive makes it unnecessary to swap memcards, sit through epicly long load screens, and it allows you to store shit for piracy/downloadable content/mods, etc.

Code has nothing to do with Cache, The Cache is a Physical Sector on the HDD that the X-Box sends info to, and it basically acts as Memory (RAM)
