I wanted to know if I should still watch it, since he's seen it.
ONTOPIC:
I recently saw [Evangelion 3.33]4/5, it was marvelous and made me have a few "end of days"/apocalypse time-period dreams. When work isn't devouring my time more I want to sketch one into maybe a signature to use here. Excited to see 4.44 and the real "End" of the series as it was intended.
Kamen Rider ZO
Had a bunch of guys beating the crap out of one another in rubbed suits mixed with glorious practical effects. What's not to like? Well, the fact that it's marred by early 90s super horrible CGI for one thing, and the other being the story that was pretty incomprehensible due to the fact that it explained virtually nothing at all besides the 20 second flashback regarding how this Rider came to be.
RoboCop 2014
Short of the Star Trek films, I have never been so LIVID in my entire life. This film was an abomination and every time they made cute little references to the original, I died a little inside. This was a massive violation of my mind and emotions.
Total Recall 2012
Nowhere near as bad as I imagined it to be, or what I heard. I really enjoyed it.
Total Recall 1990
Still a great movie with glorious practical effects.
Looper
I really liked it, and I really wasn't expecting what I got when I went into the movie.
CSA: Confederate States of America
Amusing, if a tad bit lazy, satire with several dashes of truth that I had no idea about until now. Plus it had several fake commercials and a news cast, which I enjoyed for what they were.
Artificial Intelligence - I loved this film up until the ending with the aliens, dear god what a terrible excuse to just inject a happy ending into what would have otherwise been a sad story, the kid should have just froze under water all those years ago and that was it, bringing in Aliens was a cheap excuse to just put a happy ending in. The rest of the film I really enjoyed.
300 Rise of an Empire.
Lone Survivor.
The Expendables 3.
The expendables 3 is out, interesting, was it any bette than expendables 1 or 2, which weren't great?
The Amazing Spiderman 2.
Not too bad. It sure as hell beats the first movie maybe because one doesn't have to sit through all the origin crap (AGAIN!!!)
I still can't stand the actor who plays him. Hated Toby too. Effects were good and gave a glimpse of some interesting possible characters for a third movie which I'll get into in a minute. Certain parts were rushed and others way too long especially the overly dramatic garbage which slowed the movie to a halt. Electros origin was probably the silliest thing I've ever seen :lol
The super hero music that plays sometimes when he's swinging around was gay and his little whoohoos when swinging were annoying as fuck.
Still it had some decent action scenes and Emma Stone is visually yummy as always. It also seemed to follow the comics in some regards much better than the Toby ones.
Now for the characters - Having Green Goblin come in near the end was pretty cool and he looked pretty good too. The whole classic death of Gwen Stacy was done well I think. When they kept talking about having the genetically altered spiders "venom" I thought for a moment they were gonna really change shit around and have Harry turn into, well Venom. We saw Felicia Hardy in there as well and given the end of the movie I wonder if we'll see a Black Cat for the next because it looks like we may see a "Sinister Six" for the next one what with Gobby saying to put together a small team to go after Spidey. Even though I don't believe they mentioned her last name Spiderman is going to need a little help and I don't know of who else they could really use that Sony has the rights to - maybe Silver Sable or something??? However the membership lineup may be quite different for the Six. I had a thought that the guy he was talking too may have been Chameleon (quite possibly Mysterio since he's a classic member of the Six) The whole Rhino thing at the very end was ridiculous and should have simply been cut, but maybe they'll open with that battle right off the bat with the third??? Then of course would that mean he's the third member??? Maybe a return of the Lizard too??? Since that secretive dude who went to see the Goblin walked by a pair of wings and tentacles - Vulture and Doc Ock could round off the Six. And maybe they'll introduce Venom as well and flip things a bit and have him in the end help Spidey out against the larger threat as they have done so before in the comic but we're now looking at wayyyy to many characters. Anyhow I'm rambling and all over the place now so enough is enough!!!!!
Welp overall it had it's good and bad and downright silly moments. Better than the first though.
6.5/10

Spoiler warning:
Swelter.
Chinese Zodiac.
They're all entertaining movies, not great flicks but enjoyable if you like the old school cheesy American action films. I was pretty happy to see the bad guy in this one :lol
But some young new crew additions that detract from the experience imo. I'd say not as good as the other 2 but still ok.
If you don't like other movies you most probably won't like this one.
Point Fucking Break
I absolutely love this movie. It was when Swayze was at his peak, and pre-Neo days for Keanu. There isn't a slow moment in this movie - truly one of the best 90's action flicks ever committed to celluloid.
Yeah, Hot Fuzz is fucking A+++ as well. IMO the best of all of the Nick Frost/Simon Pegg/Edgar Wright Movies.
Most people flock to Shaun of the Dead, but Hot Fuzz is where it's at.
Die Monster Die! (1965).
Godzilla: Final Wars (2004).
Noah (2014) >.>
Guardians of the Galaxy-it wasn't a bad movie
Ice Soldiers (2013).
What can I say? It was like watching an 80's B flick
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes.
Was better than Rise imo :booger:
Edit:
The Raid 2.
Pretty damn good but I felt it wasn't as good as the first one.
Two negatives I can think of:
A car chase/fight scene that seems to happen at low speed
It goes for two and a half hours, and it isn't non-stop action unfortunately.
Did a double header today - saw one movie, went and shopped a bit, then turned around and went back to the theater and saw another one
Guardians of the Galaxy - **** - just fantastic.... and I'm not real crazy about comic movies
TMNT - * - Pretty freaking awful. Watched it in 3D and with all the shaky camera work and quick cuts I almost walked out with a headache.
Puncture Wounds (2014) aka A Certain Justice.
Sabotage (2014) - this wasn't as bad as I thought it would be tbh. I expected it to be terrible because there was a bit of negativity about it, but overall it was a decent enough. I think Arnie is pretty good in this.
The Wraith
A revenge story light on the actual revenge. Also, so many questions and no actual answers... just what the Hell...
Expendables 3. Not bad. Ton of action of course and some funny moments especially with Bandares. It is what it is of course.
7/10
The Suspect (2013) - Haven't watched a Korean film for a while and this one was pretty good imo.
Ore wa, kimi no tame ni koso shini ni iku (2007) aka For Those We Love - After watching Yamato recently I decided to give this one a go too, it has a fair bit of soppy stuff in it but kinda expected that. Still worth watching imo. Read something on a US site a while back commenting on how this and some other Japanese movies romanticise the war and those involved, but seriously...American movies don't do that? yeah whatever.
Watched both subbed not dubbed
Suburban Commando
Hulk Hogan as a space man in very early 90 suburbia. Also featuring Frank Welker for 10 seconds as the voice of the bad guy. I have no idea if this is the worst movie ever, or if it's the best thing ever... all I know is that it had Hulk Hogan flinging cats from trees and hurting a mime.
Pacific Rim
Why didn't they just build plasma cannon platforms in space to shoot the giant monsters the moment they appeared, rather than take a lesson from Mobile Fighter G Gundam and make robots to fist fight them?
Minority Report
Firstly, the movie was much too long for its own good; clocking in at about two and a half hours. Secondly, the film started off with lots of CG, only to abandon it about half an hour in and become mostly practical, as if they simply ran out of money. Thirdly, the film suffered from massive mood whiplash; the main character is on the run from the cops, then it goes from a tense standoff to unintentional comedy involving jet packs and a woman screaming to get out of her kitchen while trying to swat them with a spatula. Fourthly, and this is just me, but the product placement was blatant to the point where I knew where they were getting the rest of the money to finish the film.
The Black Hole
Glorious practical effects... but that ending. What in the name of all the various deities was with that ending?
Spoiler warning:
X-Men Days of Future Past.
Just watched the first Alien Nation film. Pretty entertaining.
Inbetweeners Movie 2
It was alright. Quite funny in places but not the best film, or anywhere near as good as the series.
Cadillac Man with Robin Williams. A little dated but still ok I guess.
3/5
Watched Guardians of the Galaxy again. Everything and everyone shine in this movie.
This has to be the biggest success for Marvel Studios to this date, commercially and critically. I know Avengers did it much better in the box office but they already were popular characters and it took them 5 solo movies to build the right momentum. It's quite meritorious what they did with some unknown for the masses characters in their first movie appearance. Now everyone talks about Rocket and Groot proving that there's life beyond the mutants, Spidey and the Avengers.
And this was also the best year for Marvel Studios so far. With Winter Soldier and Guardians, both excellent films, they've proved more than capable to make way different kind of movies based on comic-book properties. Expanding the genres in their films is the smartest way to fight against both the audience exhaustion and those who simplistically label them as the typical superhero flicks.
I really wanna see Guardians but in the same boat as Stark. Hopefully it'll still be in theatres at the end of the month.
Just walk through the ticket gate pretending you're blind, and just looking for the bathroom. Blind people wouldn't try and watch a movie for free
Watched XIII - The Conspiracy. Good Movie. The Protagonist looks like jason statham though.
Guardians of the Galaxy at the movie theater. 3 Days to Kill on DVD.
Angry video game nerd: The Movie
Yeah, I like it.
Sent from the Intergalactic Space Arcade using a Vectrex.
Good Burger this movie still cracks me up
