these bills are getting dumber and dumber......>_>
so what does the bill say to a disc jockey, trying to do his job, he doesn't own the rights to share the songs with everyone, just himself, i question our society.
Its only getting worse and we are being forced to deal with it.
WHAT???! :doink:
that article is so fucking LAME!
This is how shit gets done. No one wants for their competition in the upcoming election to use how they voted against something to protect children from pedophiles. >.>
It's what the government does best. Sneaking things into bills has been done since practically the creation of this country. Probably well before that as well in various forms too.
Yeah Ron Paul has no chance. It's gonna be Romney.
Alot of this has probably got to do with the US gov trying to get back power they once had, the US used to be a big world super power but now people laugh at them i suppose this could be considered a attempted come back
You're funny. Leaving aside the question of superpower status (which we disagree on, but is irrelevant), this is a matter of domestic politics as far as Congress is concerned. The cause that you're ascribing to this is fundamentally a matter of foreign policy, which is entirely different. At the most, the U.S. Government is using foreign policy as it pertains to this (pressure on other governments to bring copyright laws into line with US standards, extradition of British nationals based on acts of piracy committed internationally, etc.) primarily as a lever to effect further domestic policy and control, which is a sphere in which they have traditionally had less influence (and the states/federal argument begins...). As for SOPA and PIPA themselves, they're fundamentally domestic policy, in the same way as the Great Firewall of China and Australian policies to a similar effect.
DONT LISTEN TO ANONYMOUS THEY ARE ACTUALLY A BRANCH OF THE GOVERNMENT THAT IS DESIGNED TO FUEL THE PROPAGANDA IT HAS INSTIGATED ITSELF TO CREATE AN INTERNET COLD WAR DONT BE FOOLED THIS IS ONLY TO EXPOSE THE FILE SHARERS
yah, i was sort of just trolling. Thats how easy a meme could be spread, ive this posted over a few websites.
Posting things once is more than enough, this is getting ridiculous...
lol, Yeah, I'm seeing alot of locked threads that deal with the like.
Anyway, ACTA is a global SOPA!
Some info on ACTA:

Crap. This is like a video game or something. We kill a baddie and then another, more powerful baddie shows up. It just keeps getting worse and worse.
:bigahhh:
I just don't get it. Why is SOPA and PIPA still being considered by congress? Now we have to worry about "OPEN" which in a nutshell isn't as bad as the other two but still a thorn in the side of the interwebs

My favorite part about this was the protest. Which were heavily supported might I add. If I didn't know any better I bet most of EP's users sent letters to congress or at least signed a petition! Thick head as usual we get this answer as a response.

my response to these neverending schemes to "kill" the internet.
Hey, isn't that Gregory House from Dr.House? xD
The sad part is they don't want to kill it. They want to Control the internet which eventually will lead up to killing it. The thing that makes this situation incredibly lawlzy is the fact that it probably will never happen as long as some people still can muster up some common sense. Why the good ol' Gov expects us to roll over is beyond me, but in the end I don't think its going to happen.
Here is some info about OPEN:
http://arstechnica.com/tech-policy/n...protect-ip.ars
Spoiler warning:
So if I'm reading that right, OPEN would cause job losses?Quote:
OPEN would burden only US-governed PSPs and ad networks, it may drive websites—including legitimate websites who want to reduce their risk of being mistargeted—to shift their business to foreign-based PSPs and ad networks. If lots of businesses make a switch based on these concerns, OPEN could counterproductively result in net financial losses for the US economy.
Even though it has good qualities its still ass nothingly farfetched to the point of being stupid.
Why are they so dead set on making fools of themselves?
What it amounts to is.
Policing the Internet Its stupid and is harming good people with legit jobs.
PLEASE ANYONE CAN SIGN IT ! if we get 100,000 it should be pushed back to the other countries again ! to try

Bad news doods. ACTA is one step closer to being law. The European Union signed it. However, until it is ratified by the European Parliament, the signatures are not legally binding. This will happen in three key stages, with the final one (the final vote in Plenary) taking place on 12th, 13th or 14th June (though all dates for the key stages may be changed). This means there is still time. Obama is also expected to sign it too.
