The undub of Grandia is another cut & paste halfassed attempt with the battle voices still being in english.
I'm talking to a few "real" undubbers who may do Grandia and Thousand Arms when they feel like it.

The gameplay tweaks were hit and miss imo. I can't argue about SM but for every instance like that you can name 2-3 of them improving an RPG in little ways that made them more enjoyable.
Sony just whipped their big money penor and seriously outbid them for Grandia unfortunately.
Well currently i'm not even trying to understand the story, just watching robits fight
Yeah, isn't there that Sapphire game that sometimes goes for close to $1000? Reminds me of Radiant Silvergun or the English version of Panzer Dragoon Saga. It's okay when the rarer games for a console are ones that are fairly forgettable or disposable, but when you have that combination of a good title and a low print run, things get pricey quickly. D:
Oh! What'd you get for the Dreamcast? <3 I finished Shenmue for the first time recently following the Shenmue 3 announcement, so the Dreamcast love is strong in me at the moment~~
Cool, will give them a look. :3 Thanks. ^_^
Yeah, true enough. When they focused on aesthetic / control-based improvements rather than actually trying to rebalance the difficulty, it was usually to the game's benefit, so maybe being a bit too hard on them. And I thought the difficulty in the English versions of the Lunar games was actually more fun and challenging than the Japanese ones, so there's that~
Yep, basically the same situation as Ignition and Arc Rise Fantasia. Big money penors are to blame for all the world's worst dubbing atrocities, clearly.
Sapphire is a $400 game but yeah still ridiculous. Fortunately it was brought to PSP and that only runs about $40 these days. Lots of the US Turbo games are ridiculously expensive at this point. I only really plan to get the WD games and I've already nabbed Cadash and Vasteel. The rest I think will be Japanese unless I luck out.
In fact here is all I have so far including stuff in the mail: Racing Damashii, Cadash, Vasteel, Dragon Spirit, Salamander, Side Arms, Super Star Soldier, Final Soldier, PC Genjin, PC Genjin 2, PC Genjin 3, Momotaro Katsugeki, Image Fight, Ordyne (this game is adorable!), Kyukyoku Tiger, Adventure Island (Dragon's Curse in the US, secretly Wonder Boy III or something like that), R-Type I and Puyo Puyo. I really want to get the first Spriggan and Download (yes this is the name of a game lol) 1 and 2. But I need to cool it for now.
Lots of really fun games there. Really enjoyed what I've played so far. Dat old school challenge.
For Dreamcast I picked up Garou MotW, Last Blade 2 and Choko Senki Kikaioh. I sold my US copies of those games for $160 and got Japanese versions for $66 shipped. :<3:
They made Alundra a lot more fun as well imo. Mostly because they made it more challenging. Easy games are boring! They went overboard with SM though.
Indeed. That game was dubbed in English in Japan. Can't remember if that's been brought up here before or not. No wonder it's such a rubbish dub. :booger:
@Nem: Spoiler: That is the story. :pwacko:
Newsflash pigglydick
MOST ENGLISH DUBS SUCK REGARDLESS OF RECORDING LOCATION! :really:
:inout:
Better go find the Japanese dub of Uncharted. :toss:
Oh and Call of Duty too. I can ONLY play that game in the MUCH SUPERIOR JAPANESE LANGUAGE.
Kawaii desu tank shell.
I see everyone left.
I'll bite. I've found most dubbed rpgs have sucked a great example is evergrace. the 1 rpg I can think of off the top of my head that didn't suck was FF12 for the most part it had pretty good voice acting there were a few characters whose voice actors just didn't fit the part.
The other exception to the dub rule is action/fps games I really can't think of an ps or action game that had shitty voice acting.
platformers have been hit and miss on thise too. racthet and clank games had good voice acting. ape escape had terrible voice acting.
Did this just become Skype the hangout all of a sudden?
For all the crap they get from some people AAA games generally have really good VA. I recall the Uncharted games being quite good in the VA department but it's been awhile. Bats games too. I think a big problem is that companies think every game should be voiced now. If you aren't going to hire decent talent please just don't bother, I'd rather read.
A live look-in at Warrior: http://orig03.deviantart.net/dc76/f/...94-d4f8zdf.jpg
:revwacko:
You really do bring up a good point that not many people want to admit.
The problem with that of course is it's risky because most people don't want to read. Lol.
Anyway, Riddick Assault on Dark Athena arrived today. Been playing the retooling of Assault on Butcher Bay that's also included. Aside from the dumb AI it's a really fun game. And Vin Diesel does do the voice of Riddick in the game which is awesome.
Lol I taught my cousin to read he wanted to play old school rpgs think Dragon Warrior & snes FF games and kept asking me what he should do did you read what it said" no" then I'd hit reset he learned 2 very important lessons that day read and save often.
Basically but he got the message after doing the same thing 4 times in a row
Fuckin nephew of mine wants to learn fighters but only cares about the latest street fighter because it looks "purdy"
I need a large rolled up newspaper to slug him with until he gets the point that GRAPHICS DON'T MEAN SHIT! :fist:
Graphics aren't a bad thing it's just graphic whores are resulting in some companies that are releasing games that while" purdy" lack substance or worse selling broken incomplete games just so they can make more on dlc
Difference there smartyass, TEXT BASED RPGS HAVE NO GRAPHICS AT ALL, better off going RPing with a bunch of stereotypical geeks and ugly nerd girls.
He is too busy watching the neighborhood strays screw each other since he is a furryfag.Quote:
On a more serious note, make his ass play KoF 02 UM! :serious:
Ah books, the Warrior's ancient foe.
Lol @ furfag comment. I wasn't sure which one you were referring to but now I know.
I read books ya dummkopf , just I haven't borrowed any from friends in years plus Its gotta be a awesome fantasy like Xanth , Harry Pothead or Tolkins works.
boobs.
this question is for you gyp. what would you classify contra as a shump or an action game?
Makes me glad I have cousins that don't want to play games. :lol
However, I have friends who want me to teach them fighting games. So, I share the pain. :low:
Subgenre of shmups but different enough to deserve it's own classification imo.
