It may not seem like a huge deal, but getting out of the habit of using the wrong word is something you'll probably want to start. Doesn't look great when there are spelling/grammatical mistakes on a company email, for example. I'm constantly facepalming at some of the emails I have to read at work from our assistant store manager, who is constantly using the wrong words or butchering sentences in general. An example that happened a couple of weeks ago: "just regard last email." That was it. I know what she meant, but seriously...
Also, if you end up in a position where you are communicating with others in an office/in the same company strictly via email, they will think you are retarded if you don't use proper English. Doesn't matter how intelligent you might actually be -- when the only basis for analysis is your shitty writing skills, you come across looking like a retard.
