Even with the 60lb batman as your role model!?
Question for you guys.
I finally found the Internet cord for this hotel, but I can't seem to get it to connect to the Internet. I don't know if it's cable or DSL (pretty sure it's a cable connection, but it runs into the wall and I can't get to the access point to find out). But I can't seem to get it to connect to Internet. I'm not entirely sure how to find out what network card I have, and since the connection I'm hijacking is slow as Hell, researching it is a bitch.
Every time I try to set up a connection via Control Panel, the only options it gives me are wireless, DSL, or dialup. DSL and dialup require a username and password, and I don't have a username and password to use. So I was wondering if anyone here knew if I was missing something.
I'm hoping it's something really lame that I can't find because I've been eating beef jerky all evening. >.>
Try the DSL with the username as "admin" and password blank. Or "guest" and blank, or "guest" and "guest", or "admin" and "password". You'd be surprised how often those work.
Also, is it saying those are found connections or what? I'm assuming when you say you found the cord, you mean that it's a cat5 jack in the wall?
The only found connections are nearby wireless connections. It can't find the wired connection at all. And I'll give those a try and report back.
Re: hijacked wireless, really slow. It's somewhere in that post. And desk attendant is gone for the night. Doesn't seem like something I should bother the "live-in" staff with after hours.

Holy shit, Drag is an internet elf.
SEE, THEY ARE REAL. I TOLD YOU!

Mission Failure ;_;
None of those worked. >.<
I was digging through my device manager and found two results under "Network Adapters":
Atheros AR5B97 Wireless Network Adapter
Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter
And under "Other devices," I have "Ethernet Controller" but no drivers installed for it, so it comes up with the little "!" error thing over the icon.
