You usually get insurance after you get your car. Which comes after getting a license. Is it different in different places?

You can get a license without insurance, you just can't get license plates for your car without it.

Nope, 'cause I just went in to try for my license. They told me I can't. :|

Yeah, $200 a month 'cause I'm under 18, my cars red, and I have a Mustang. And I'm a male. Therefore, insurance skyrockets. My girlfriends' is the same way.

I'd check again. They can't require you to have insurance to get a driver's license.
What if you don't own a car, yet want a license. You have nothing to get insurance on, but you have the ability to drive someone else's car.
