im not reading through 6 pages to see if this was sugested or not, and I don't see it implemented at all.

PhPBB has a fairly simple and pretty cool Mod built by Xore called Ca$h_Mod. A simple monitary rewards system which adds money to your account each time you post. The problem with this mod is that is can encourage spamming.

I saw in the announcements that "posting to increase post count / Gil..." I don't see any Gil, so I'll assume that there WAS a system / rpg style mod or something of the like at one point that was removed posssably?..

Anyway, I think Its kinda cool. It gives guys like me something to do. such as trade images (like sigs/avatars) for forum based cash. Auctions, and stuff like that. As long as everyone plays nice its pretty cool.

im aware taht this isn't PhPbb.. im a web master, i think I can ID a set of forums by now by copyright.

I was making a comparison. I know VB has a similar hack, /me is just too lazey to go look at VB's site to find the cash / rpg mod.

The Gil thing wasn't bad, the only problem was that it screwed the forums :\ If it wasn't for that anybody that didn't like it could've easily just ignored it.

the gil wasn't bad at all it was cool it allowed you to get special things to make your name glow and other shiznit like that but i think the name hacks made a huge load for the servers and i think thats why we ditched it and the gil i think we ditched because we updated to vBulletin Version 3

That's reasonable. I'd rather have less features on a board than have the board close down due to high maintenance.

If we would install the RPG hack again the forum might get some bugs because of overloading. I'd rather have a normal working board without any special features like you said.

Yeah, with the RPG hack installed aswell, we might get even more bugs and slow forums. The RPG hack will overload the forum probarbly.

we used gil back then to get special things like a glowing nick , a midi in your profile etc,i dont remember using it to play arcade here i think there even wasnt any arcade at those times if im wrong then correct me

Well I should make my voice hear as I've yet to post in this lovely thread. Glad to see the Aracde Hack was implemented, although that is a lil late to be saying ;).

Personally I believe we should try to encourage people to stick around more often than just in the intro thread as most new people don't bother posting there, ya know like if there's a "Help me!" thread, help the person and tell them to stick around n stuff...

I've been trying to do this recently, I hope it is working, there tends to be too many people who come and just leave as soon as they get their stuff taken care of. Or at least that's what I think.

also I miss the gil system, although there may no longer be a gil system for vb3 what about other cash n shop systems? they are pretty popular on VB n PHPBB so there must be a nice well working one for VB3 by now as it's been out for sometime now...

Yes there are many hacks with a shop and all for vb3. But like CCdart said if the hack is installed we'll have a arcade and a RPG hack, slow forums.

Some kind of disclaimer should be implemented for the new member registration screen, so when n00bs join up they will know not to just waltz in here and ask the same fucking dumb question: "Where can I find a ROM/ISO?" God, I am so sick of seeing that, and it's been happening a lot lately. Where's that n00b beating stick? I know someone around here has one, lemme borrow it for a while...please.

I am curious, we have a 25 post rule, but it is not effective on the ROM download section? What's the deal with that? No offense to any n00bs (okay I'm lying, I don't care if n00bs take offense), but the point of the 25 post rule is so new people can't just sign up then download stuff (leech) then leave. The ROM download section should operate the same way as the Trading Post. If you're new you shouldn't have access til after 25 posts. Go figure.

I also miss being able to tell who the hell gives me a good rep, at least with the ol five star thing it gave a list of who voted for you. I dislike annonmisity... although I love the inernet. :wacko:
