Shame it dos'nt work with anywhere near enough games. Its a great controller in my opinion. Feels just like a SNES pad with two analogue sticks stuck to it, and the snes pad is pretty much my favorite of all time.

However, not enough buttons for n64 games on virtual console. Using a stick for the c-buttons is a bit poo. Thats why i use an original xbox pad for n64 emulation on PC. Great Stuff.

Back on topic, How about satellaview? A modem for the snes which enabled download of a few small games. A bit before its time, and relatively unused, especially in the US under the XBAND guise. Not really the worst idea, but way to early. Although the service did give us a 16bit upgrage to excite bike, and it was mario themed. Cant be bad can it?

The light gun for the nes was problematic for me.. Surprised it hasn't been mentioned as of yet. I would shoot and then it would appear to the left of where I realistically aimed. Gotta give nintendo credit though, they were the first company I know of to tackle virtual reality like that with pads, guns, gloves and other devices. Most of their peripherals were either buggy or inefficient, but they are showing some good progress nowadays. Respect.

It just goes to show that nintendo are good at what they do, Business. The WiiMote and The DS Were MASSIVE risks, if they did'nt stick, they would have lost a boat load of money. But would have just moved on to a new gameboy, or more powerful gamecube, and made the money back. They lost no money in the deal, as Playstations and even Nintendo 64s continued to sell at a satisfactory rate for the company, and there was no demand for the Dreamcast.

Although Dreamcast sold relatively well, it didn't sell enough. For the most part, consumers and retailers alike were familiar with Sega's terrible support for their own systems, and when Sega pulled the plug on Dreamcast, barely a year after it's release, it was a shock to few, and expected of by many. I regrettably admit that I purchased Dreamcast on launch day, and it was one of the worst purchases I ever made. Despite the fact that Dreamcast was a very powerful system, it was Sega's lackluster support that killed it. Their reputation of abandoning their systems is what did them in, and they folded on the console market and began developing games for other companies.

In the end, I say good riddance...Sega was the textbook definition of a quitter. They see that the other companies are hurting them in the market, and instead of striving to outdo the competition, they just threw their arms up and called it quits. They did it with the Sega Master System, the 32X, the Sega CD, the Saturn, and the Dreamcast...their entire history of consoles lost from being abandoned. A sad end to a great company, but an ending they deservd nonetheless. They just did not know how to support their systems, and they were afraid to step up and challenge the competition."

Most people agree that while Piracy was rampant on DC, it ultimately was not what killed it. PS2 titles were also heavily pirated, but what kept it afloat was that Sony didn't drop it after only a year or two like Sega. Wii is rampant with piracy, though Ninty continues to do well because they haven't abandoned the wii nor have they abandoned the ds and it is incredibly cheap to pirate on it. Mircrosoft hasn't abandoned the 360 and many pirate on that system and they didn't pirate on the original xbox and piracy was common then too.

Sega didn't just abandon the Dreamcast. They gave up with the saturn after they made a big mistake and the 32x and Sega CD addons all had small libraries and little support for what they cost.

i actually used it for the SMB3 cards and i had excitebike saved onto it(before it was released as a standalone cart). but i only used it maybe 15 times total since i bought it. Still worth it to have the cape in SMB3 tho. :sa-wink:

I was never lucky enough to actually own one, and I only say lucky from a collectors stand point. I am sure back when I was a kid it would be fun for a while, and thats it. How was the actual quality of the glove? From what I heard the actual controls were pretty bad.
