I'm gonna trash it after I get another 20 dollars, I'll buy a new control. It ain't worth the hassle.

What viewpoint are the Mass Effects? Third-person, like Tomb Raider/RE?

Are there things to solve and explore, or are they mindless shooting orgys?

I hate it when controllers stop working, it's endlessly frustrating.

It's a long shot, but you could pull it apart and check the connections of the cable wires.
Keep it for spares, anyway.

Third person. Yes, there are tons of things to explore/open/solve/etc. And there's more story and interaction than just blowing stuff up :P
I describe it like when you're reading a really good book, or watching a really good movie, and you lose yourself in it. It's like you're there.

Sci-fi action-adventure/rpg.
It's not a first person shooter.

Sprung/DL - Right on...I'll need to be getting those when its PS3 time...also really like the looks of the 'BioShock' thing...right up my alley...
I cannot play the games with the dual-stick style controls...I need more traditional, like TR/RE/Mario 64/etc..

I love a game that plays JUST like the PS2 Baldurs Gate series...
