Have been focusing more on Korean films / TV this year to help me improve my Korean, and a lot of the Japanese films I have watched have been older ones. But I think all of these are worth watching. ^^;;;

Kimi no Na wa / Your Name
Umi Yori mo Mada Fukaku / After the Storm
Nagai Iiwake
Rip Van Winkle no Hanayome / A Bride For Rip Van Winkle

They also did a film adaptation of Sekai Kara Neko ga Kieta Nara (If Cats Disappeared From the World), which I liked the book of a lot. Haven't seen the movie yet, though. ^_^ Sang-Il Lee's Ikari is supposed to be pretty good too.

Yeah, it's definitely a ride on the feels train, so probably best to avoid unless you're in the right mood. I think it's Makoto Shinkai's strongest film yet, though. And I really like the others, so that's saying a lot. ^_^

That's what I expect from a lot of Japanese films, it's amazing how realistic and depressing Japanese films are, they're so completely different to most anime. :wacko:
