Well, there is one "nifty upside": when I'm able find a "cheap" and/or rare console game (cheap means "less than 1000+ rubles(~30+$ )", and "rare" means "almost any JRPG/TRPG game") I feel truly happy.
Like times when I'm accidentally stumbled upon Resonance of Fate at some little store, or found a copy of Folklore for "mere" 25$.
Most people here play on PC. Pirated copies of PC games here cost almost nothing and torrent trackers are really popular. Steam holds up pretty well too. Consoles, on the other hand, not very much.
Emulators and ability to mod old consoles is like a saving grace for people like me. Because it means "more great games for little price".Retro stuff here "dies" quckly - there is no more PS2's or Wii's in the shops and very few games for them.
I'm lucky to own all my consoles...and I going to buy some more. There is still a Wii and 3DS left.
