That's not the standards you have to be at after you finish basic training. Im not quite sure for females, but I know for me, I have to be able to do 42 push-ups in 2 mins, 53 sit ups in 2 mins, and a 2 mile run in 15:54 mins. Now thats just barely passing. Also, before you can graduate basic training, you have to be able to do a 12 mile ruck march (men and women) with a minimum of 35 pound ruck-sack.

Many did not experience and then they talk as if they are experts themselves. You can learn things the easy way or the hard way, and obviously many like the hard way. Ever hear of the saying that goes something like life is too short to learn all your mistakes by yourself and that you have to look at another?

What was said does not back up anything and is just opinion, and some information is relevant to other countries on how the rules are different. Women can do some military work but not recommended for the heavy grunt work. Women can multitask better than men but are not as good in direction, men understand hands on better than women, women biologically get attached to a guy on a personal level and the man get more attracted for the women outside. Treating women like men has a negative affect and vise versa. Has anyone taken any college classes on any issues or have done research on long term affect on anything? If your opinions are good then don't go to school then. Do not even play games since the same institutes that brought you information also brought you the technology you are using.

Many of the feminists that started the women�s movement are not pleased at all what is happening now since it�s not the same movement in many ways. I said before that there are some good things about the feminist movement but there are more bad things. You can not just pick the good points on what the movement did and ignore the bad; you have to see it as a whole which many do not want to believe the information.

Another thing is that the majority here when they get married will get divorced and maybe you will disregard statistics and need to believe it is fake. Many would not be divorced if this was before the women�s movement. ;)

You think women have more freedom now? They have less since they are being �used� more. Women had more power before to get married sooner, have a home sooner, are able to afford hospitals, had the �choice to have more� kids, has more values, families were healthier, got the best guy they can get unlike now that they hang at bars getting used by guys for 1 nigh stands, many women are tricked thinking they are with a guy since the guy wants commitment but the guy takes advantage of her more than ever before, and the list goes on. Many women as I stated in the last post see this happening and the ones that do not sell themselves get more as the article stated. Women have no bargaining chips now since if she can not put up she should shut up now, but before she didn't put up and she got the guy.

What I say is what the experts say as well. You think your daughter will have a lot of freedom and choices when she has to sleep around to not let the guy leave? This is having psychological damage as well and I bet many are psychological experts as well to dispute that too. Some things will defiantly not make sense I gave you links to get a book to read or information but many read the opinions, other topics that are not relevant, and do not care.
Well in the end it seems many here are experts and the experts are always wrong, hmm interesting. So people here are statisticians, doctors, politicians, psychiatrists, historians, and the list goes on, and that all the experts that say the unanimous thing are wrong. Wow

also, women aren't animals, they have free will, they have choice. If any man is "using" them, they have the ability to walk away from it. Just as any man could if they were in the same situation. The argument that they could get hurt or raped doesn't really hold up because the offenders that cause these crimes mostly act off of fear and lack of self-esteem of their victims. Maybe women should start to love themselves more and be more confident to ward off this kind of behavior. Also, it's the woman's choice how she's gonna live her life and if she wants to sell herself then that's her choice. You can't blame that on women gaining more rights.

Do you why know it's not called equalism? Because equality is something that means equal oppurtunites, rights, privileges among equals...it doesn't take into account the fact that men and women are unequal. When feminism emerged as an ideology, earlier feminists emphasized on the 'sameness' of men and women. Later feminists emphasize on the 'differences' between men and women. And they celebrate these differences...The right to equality says-'equal pay for equal work for both men and women' But how many believe in it? Equality is lacking today, that's why you have groups like Childen Rights' Activists, Animal Rigths' Activists, Feminists, etc. They are all fighting for equality. I think it's trivial to think that there are 'confused bitches' in this sphere. I think the people who don't see the reason for the need of these groups are confused and ignorant.
Though I understand were the words "confused bitches" is coming from. Many so called feminists are a little wonky in their demands.

Strange how when you get a 'bad' because of who you are...like for instance...most men in England are now fighting for 'paternity' leave, during which btw (when asked in a survey) they said "we're obviously going to use the time to catch up on the football games and gulp all the six-packs we can". So now suddenly, these men feel they too need a paternity leave in order to take care of their children, I'm not saying that all men don't. Many women too are horrible mothers. Why is that when women get something bad, they're meant to, eh? Or they simply "asked for it"? I don't get it, these days if you get eve-teased, it's just something that happens, you know? What the hell can you do about it? Try and ignore it? If you try and slap the prick and create a scene, most of the time it results in rape, kniving, etc. So why create a scene at all? Why can't people (and here I mean both men and women) accept that men and women are different. But this difference is misused to deny women oppurtunities.

Immanuel Kant and Aristotle, were two of the first philosophers who described the state. According to them man was a rational thinking being and could be a part of the state.
Evidently there's nothing wrong with that line. But if you read what they went on to say such as, Emotion was a quality not attributed to the state but the home, kitchen and primary school. Do you understand how gendered and biased language and vocabulary is?
I've already mentioned my stance on radical feminists, I don't support that, because that breeds inequality. I don't mind something neutral like 'it' being used. But that's besides the point. They are not equal, men and women. I can beat most guys at basketball, but at the same time I am one of those who'll get stomped over in a football game or even in many bball games. That's the difference. A guy who can run over most in football, may be a sucker at swimming compared to a girl, does that mean ALL men are strong? I hold the door for many guys, I don't think that makes me less of a woman or a feminist. It's only gentlemanly to do so. And I wouldn't judge a man if he didn't do so for me. I'll give you an example of a militant feminist who accosted me on the street while I was striding purposefully to the corner dairy to get my weekly stock-up of milk and pornography. Dingy, I agree with you, for almost everything.

If a woman is attacked, sexually, physically, or any other way, what's to say that they have to take it? If I was attacked any way I didn't like, by a woman or a man, I would stand my ground. I may get knifed for it (or at least attempted at) but I still would stand my ground and put up a fight. If I actually got hurt. I may press charges, if I didn't I would move on. I know I would act this way because it has happened to me before. If you allow people to attack you, your gonna get used over and over again. It's all in how you see yourself and how much confidence you have in your abilities.

I know people will probably say, "They shouldn't have to fight back like that! The government should take steps to protect them. Men should back off as well." But you know that isn't the case, no matter how hard the feminist movement fights for this, it will not change everybody's minds. Especially the one's that would attack in the first place. So your gonna end up fighting in the end anyway. So you all better learn real quick.

And lastly, here's an inequality that most don't realize but is. Try being a white middle-class male when you try to go get financial aid, or get into a school that accepts affirmitive action. That's something I've been dealing with recently. I can't get any special grants from any special grantors because I'm not a minor. I basically had to get extremely good grades to get scholarships, better than my minority co-students (including women). I also couldn't get into the school I wanted, because they were reserving that slot for affirmitive action. Even though I had great grades. Talk about crap.

It may not seem like much of an inequality, but it still is. But maybe this will change when they start realizing that everyone should be treated the same, not just women and men, but minorities as well.

I totally agree with you about the fact that affirmative action or protective discrimination (reservations, etc.) can certainly prove disadvantageous to the general category so to say. btw, women and children come under the category of "unprivileged". Something I don't agree with.

I understand these things happen, I know it's a pain in the ass to fight it. But that doesn't mean you have to take it. I know it's hard to do, but it is also your body and I'll be damned if someone is gonna take advantage of me. I don't care how big you are or if you are armed. Maybe that's my military training talking, I don't know, but that is definitely the way I feel.

yes i have actually, all through my childhood, and get this, I'm a guy, and i was molested by a guy, several times. It took me until I was about 13 to stop it or say anything, because I was too scared to say anything. Now, I can tell you now, he doesn't even come near me without knowing he's gonna get his ass kicked. Maybe I should have fought it in court, but instead I basically stood my ground and he backed off. People have more power than they realize, just because some one is bigger than you doesn't mean your helpless. Same with a weapon. more than likely, they don't want to use the weapon, they are just threatening to use it. Making empty promises. I know no one wants to find out when it happens, but still, stand your ground. You would be suprised what it can do.

BTW, I am a firm believer that anyone without the skills to defend themselves, learn some form of martial art, or maybe carry some type of defense mechanism. It would definitely give you peace of mind.

Um, it's a fucking stupid idea to generalise every case of molestation as "Oh, the guy with the knife who's telling me to take off my shirt is probably perfectly harmless. I'm not actually all that confident that every thirteen year old girl is capable of staving off an armed adult male who is intent on getting off at her expense. If someone's capable of molestation, do you really think he'd hesitate to kill too? You were molested by a serial offender, MF, and that's a disturbing thing to have to experience. But this shows that the man (boy? You didn't specify, and either's possible...) knew you and is therefore typical of the sort of molestor who can be faced down simply by standing up for yourself. He's a member of your community, and therefore fears a reputation in child molestation. If a stranger approaches you with a knife, there is no guarantee that he'll back down. He has a knife? Then he is in control. Giving knives to all the teenagers of the world isn't going to fix that.

Getting the law involved is usually a good idea. There's a lot of emotional problems this can bring up, but you've got to make sure that the guy who did it to you is prevented from doing the same to other kids. Just because you got plucky doesn't mean that every other potential victim is going to do the same. But when the law doesn't even care about rape or molestation, because their social view is that women are to blame for any crime related to sex, what the fuck can you do? That's a problem that feminism aims to fix.

Anyway, what feminism questions is the very why of things...why is there a need for women to protect themselves today? Why are they insecure. I'm not saying men are not, but why is a woman in a man's world considered progressive and a man in a woman's world pathetic?

I feel your pain MF, but my closest friend was molested when she was in 3rd grade by her uncle, he did all sorts of stuff with her, and she didn't even know what was going on. Closure has still not come to her, but she recently spoke to him and he begged her not to tell anyone (not that she had, because she couldn't bear to go through the humiliation, because the most frequently asked question is--'how could you let him do it?') because it would practically mean him being ostracised from the family.

Right, I understand that children, and even teenagers cannot defend themselves. I also agree that we shouldn't arm them either. But what I was getting at was that there will NEVER be a world where these people don't take advantage of others. It's not possible. Therefore, I think that people need to learn how to protect themselves. Even if it means, letting the guy (or girl) do whatever it is they do, so you stay alive, but be in the frame of mind to get the details of the offender so you can take his/her ass to court. I probably wasnt clear about my stance on the law. I think that is a form of defense as well. Basically what I'm saying is, don't let the person get away with it, whether you are able to subdue him/her, or get enough info to get them arrested. A lot of people get so scared and so helpless, they get raped, then they don't even get a proper description of the person, because they were too scared to do anything. The feminist movement has some good values they are trying to put across. I totally agree with it. But I also know it's not gonna happen as long as there are demented people in this world like rapists, murderers, and thieves. The only way we are gonna have true peace in this world is when we are all dead.

Also, the person that molested me was a member of my family. So you could have imagined what hell would have went down if I brought the law into it, since everyone is so close. Since then, I have reconciled, and I basically said, if he touches another child or person against their will, I wll get his ass.
