That's only if you buy it from GameStop or a similar place. You could just, you see, buy it from somebody else. Normally a person to person transaction will be far cheaper.

I'm one of the people that didn't like Majora's Mask.
Sure, part of it was because I was hoping for a continuation of the story that had been outlined in Ocarina of Time, but in all honesty, a game that was essentially about collecting didn't really appeal to me all that much. I also disliked the "transform into different creatures" aspect. While Zelda has always had magic, it's always been within the realms of "shoot sword beam," "shoot fireball," etc. Using a mask to transform into a completely different race just didn't sit right with me. I felt the same way about Link transforming into a wolf in Twilight Princess, too -- that was honestly one of my least favourite parts of the game, just because it didn't feel like something that should exist in a Zelda world.
I did like the general concept of "the world is going to end in three days," but I also hate when a game gives me time constraints to do something. I really, really hate it, in fact. A lot. Sure, you can slow down the progress of time and whatnot, but it still bothered me.
There are a number of reasons that I don't go back to the game, but the main one always leads back to, "it doesn't progress the story any further." This isn't the only Zelda title that I rarely go back to, either -- there are a few that I just can't stomach, for various reasons. If I had a Wii, I would buy this game. Hell, I would buy this game at full price. However, since I don't, it's kind of a moot point for me.
That was basically my case and point.
The reasons why you didn't like those aspects were because they were different. It didn't sound like you loathed them, but it just didn't sit well with you that you had some elements that were a major deviation from the series.
Except the time part. I myself like the time restrictions, because certain events in the 3 days happen at specific times. Getting the couple mask is ridiculous with timing. And the time proves just how helpless you are in this world, and to even make some headway, you're gonna have to restart the time again and again under the impossible oddas of your task. And the collecting part is fun, at least for me.
The only issue I see is, you have to buy wiimotion plus, and then controls seem very movement based involved. But we'll see how we'll they are implemented. I was disappointing with how easy TP was. The recent string of Zelda games are disappointing. So before I go out and buy it, I think i'll do a try before you buy type thing. I just hope it doesn't have AP
Kind of, yes. However, if it had been a stand-alone game not in the Zelda franchise, I probably would never have picked it up. I was severely disappointed because it wasn't the same style of game that I usually enjoy and come to expect from Zelda. When I pick up a Mario game, I buy it because I'm expecting a good, light-hearted platformer. When I pick up a Zelda game, I'm usually expecting some action/adventure centered around solving dungeons and saving the princess from peril. The collecting of masks adds replay value, for sure, but it's not something that I really look for in a game. Especially with timed events. I really do loathe timed events.
I can understand why it's being toted as such a great game, but for me it just doesn't do it. It all comes down to a matter of opinion, really. Millions of people have toted Fallout 3 as being a fantastic game, but I had a hard time getting into it and an even harder time finishing it.
The being said, I don't expect the Zelda franchise to just freeze and constantly repeat the same thing over and over, though. That leads to a certain level of stagnation that a lot of series fall prey to (case in point: Mega Man). I like that they tried to switch things up a bit, I just didn't like the end result.
Majora's Mask was a one-time thing. It was the follow-up game to the most successful and highly acclaimed Zelda of Nintendo's history, and they had fucking no idea what to do from there. So they let the developers and writers have a one-time chance to be creative as they sorted their shit out. Of course there's games like Minish Cap, Four Swords, Wind Waker that attempt that kind of originality, but they had to stick to the roots by a major portion.
To say Majora's Mask is considered a great game is kind of stretching the truth. Of course, in the opinionated way. 10+ years Zelda fans found it almost too different, even I thought that when I played it on launch day. I only developed a kinship for it like 5-6 years later when I was more mature and had a binge of playing all the Zelda's again. I wouldn't say it's my favorite game of all-time, Chrono Cross has that one, but it's in my top 10, and it's my favorite Zelda for the time being.
But god, I hardly ever want to replay that game. I have one or twice, but the game is stressful to all fuck as it's heavily and quickly timed and has a constant theme of hopeless apocalypse. The setting and themes are great, but it's not something I want to casually play. Especially near the forth area, more-so when I was young but still a little today, I'm kind of scared of that game. The terrible fates of every NPC and even Link himself make me feel awful. I mean jesus, there's a half-mummified guy that was suffering in the basement of a house for some time before Link came around, and even healing him didn't really do that much.
But that's another point, people expect too much conservatism when it comes to great series of game, like LoZ. I am much a part of 'don't fix what isn't broken', but when it's done like 5 times, I want something new. And especially when the creativity is implemented in one game, and then they go back to the roots is a little disappointing. It's like they all unanimously thought the game was awful and they need to go back to the formula.
But in the end, this doesn't even matter and opinions are pointless. Some enjoy the game, some don't (such as you), end of story.
in my eyes the wii is failing, only a few good games for it and not many people i kno have one anymore. but i will give credit to the way its desgined with teh controlls but lack of 3rd party support..well they have it just make horrible 3rd party games with the exception of madworld but thats my opnion.
I have enjoyed all the Zelda games, but the fact that it is played using a wiimote, i do not like, now if it were to implement the use of the G-Cube controller i would definitely buy it, still gonna download it though.
Pretty much all the time. <3 trade boards.
There are some pretty cool wii exclusives out there (most of which aren't coming over to the US). When I do get a Wii + games etc...it will all be used. I haven't actually supported Nintendo since the N64 really. I did buy a new GC bundle but got all the games for it used.Quote:

PH and ST aren't bad games either, although touch controls aren't my thing. I have also come to terms with the fact that it is motion controls and while I would prefer classic controls I know that from what information that has been released that that just wouldn't be feasible for this game as enemies have specific weaknesses and you have to hit them in certain ways which isn't what we're used to. This game was made from the ground up for wii motion plus and I will give it a try before blasting it.
And the allure with Majora's mask to me is it's tone. MM is the darkest zelda game by far, even compared to Twilight Princess. Majora's mask is like the took hyrule and the inhabitants and twisted them. And link has to help their woes. I also consider that Link to be the most mature of them all. And gameplay wise I love MM because I can set goals for myself and multitask. Yes, you can multitask and there is enough time to do everything without feeling constrained. Every hour in the game is worth 45 seconds of real time. Slowed down it becomes 3 minutes. 72 * 3 = 3 hours and 36 minutes for one full cycle. Of course one wouldn't use the full time as they would reset the time at least a second before the finish. I've been able to finish two dungeons in one cycle. I play the game at a brisk pace. As I have ADD, this game is a blast. Since I'm multitasking (kafei quest especially along with other quests.)
Exactly a month until I get this in a shipment and secretly take one and play it.
