Oh yes~ It was hot.

Those spoilers are kinda awesome. Which is weird, because I remember Fate/Stay Night being a pretty mediocre, forgettable show.
The storyline that was animated was the most straightforward and average of the 3. It's the most popular in japan, but I consider it the weakest.
The remaining two are "stereotypical shonen anime" (fight sequences EVERYWHERE) and "GRIMDARK" (character breaking moments up in this bitch) as opposed to "predictable plot progression with romance". They also probably downplayed the writer's complete disdain for the main character and everything he stands for.
Currently watching Gintama!!!
The Law of Ueki.
Forgot about this thread.
I just finished Haibane Renmei, and will probablly start another Yoshitoshi ABe anime, like NieA_7.
Finished Jellyfish Princess in one night's marathon - definitely loved this show. Invasion! Squid Girl...I'm slowly going through it. It's not bad, just not entirely my cup of tea.
I should have looked at it the moment you posted this. Someone else referred to it as "Card Captor Sakura meets Nanoha with art by Shaft and music by Kajiura Yuki, with Faustian references already," and I'm now downloading it. Also, second season of Kimi ni Todoke. I think I might actually get back into anime a little bit, if they keep spoiling me like this.
Rewatching Gintama, preparing myself for the continuement of the series oncoming April
I'm watching Lost Universe, it's pretty damn funny :P. I need to get the first season of Vandread before I can start watching it. I was expecting Eden of the East to be funnier but it wasn't too bad; I also just finished watching Yumeria.
Just finished watching Familiar of Zero, absolutely loved it, and I really hope the other seasons get a dub. I can't quite decide if i want to finish Law of Ueki or start on MSGundam Seed next.
Just finished Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin. What a fucking ending. Wow.
I've never heard of that show, I'm guessing it hasn't been dubbed?
freezing and Ookami to Koushinryou
I'm also keeping up with GOSICK (which could be summed up as the post-WW1 high school version of Sherlock and Watson) and might keep watching Wandering Son.
GOSICK - Awesome so far, definitely going to stick with it.
Freezing - Awful, trashy, reeks of fanboy pandering and looks to be every bad anime cliche rolled into a 12 episode series, but I'm tempted to keep watching on account of it being one of the most unintentionally hilarious things I've ever seen.
BECK - Nearly finished with this series, I'll be sad to see it end. It's been really enjoyable.
Finished PSG (S1). About 1/4 through Macross 7 at the moment. Subs don't show up in KMP so I have to watch it in VLC, which has its own set of issues. :-/
Already have it installed. I've actually got every codec pack I could find installed. It's just that the player messes up sometimes. For example, the ZX encoding group's encodes often won't let me use the seek bar in KMP.
As for VLC, it has silly deinterlacing issues that KMP doesn't have, so 2-3 times during an episode the picture will block up and I'll have to go back 5-10 seconds to try and get everything. And middle-clicking my mouse doesn't toggle full screen.
I'm working on some stuff to review next month and already have 3/4 of said reviews done.
So, I'm gonna finish up with Romeo X Juliet since Hulu has the dub on as well.
VLC uses internal codecs unless you force system codecs; I have no idea about KMP since I've never used it. Video issues are quite annoying, I was going to use K-Lite 6.40 but it doesn't have older Real Media decoders and I can't play some of my stuff :\. I just finished Stigma of the Wind yesterday.
Finished Macross 7. GO SPACE ROCK OPERA.
Planning to start up Maria†Holic next.
just finished FLCL
now onto finishing Trigun
Put Maria†Holic on the iPod, so decided to start something different on the compy.
Gallery Fake. Pretty interesting thus far, though I'm confused as to why the encoder would bother to put something with a single audio track and hard subtitles into an mkv container.
Rewatching Baki the Grappler before I decide to abridge it again.
Madoka Magica - Best show this season bar none.
Higarushi no Naku Kori ni - Watching as I type, hope it's decent. I need some good horror anime.
Ergo Proxy - Grabbed this on a whim. The first episode was awesome and I'm really digging the general vibe and art direction but I've heard it runs out of steam later on. Will have to see how it goes.
Kimi ni Todoke - Feels good man.
It is. At least, until they get around to explaining things. The writer is good at creating a setting and a mystery, but he's TERRIBLE at resolving/explaining it properly. Always. And seemingly he's a little touchy about that bit of criticism.
Yeah, about that. The general vibe and art direction? Those stick around for about 3 to 4 episodes. The tone and style of the first? Completely gone by the second. Just so they can ship off the protagonist (who has barely had any screen time yet, IIRC) on a boat so he can get as far away from the setting as humanly possible. Then there's some mumbo jumbo about gods and chosen ones. And then it gets worse.
I dropped Ergo Proxy halfway through, I think that about sums it up.
Higurashi's good. Second season gets awfully silly towards the end, and I thought the ending outright sucked, but aside from that, it's good. Gotta agree with Ray on the whole "the mystery is more interesting than the explanation" part, though.
Colamisu for future reference check out pot player from the dev of kmp player before it got sold and of course mpc hc.
Watching madhouse wolverine not that impressed but waiting it out.
This thread tends to have more views, so I'm posting it here.
So, anyone who's up to date with this kind of stuff willing to recommend some good new and/or semi-recent shows? I don't really watch anime that often these days, but I'm keeping a a txt file with dozens of shows if I'm ever in the mood. In any case, I guess I need somethnig from the last couple of months/year. Madoka Magica has already been recommended to me, and I've seen PSG and Highschool of the Dead, but that's about it as far as semi-new shows are concerned. Thanks.
Randomly picked out a show I've seen mentioned here, so I ended up watching Seikimatsu Occult Gakuin. It was fun to watch, though I wasn't the biggest fan of the last 2 or 3 episodes. The ending felt a bit rushed, too. I guess having only 13 episodes is partly to blame. Still a decent show, though; the likable main cast and interesting premise saved it from being mediocre.
No, what saved it from being mediocre would be Maya's legs.
Anyways, finished Macross Frontier because MORE SPACE ROCK OPERA. Twas alright. Glad it wasn't as drawn out as Macross 7.
Also finished Needless. Art style was like Yu-Gi-Oh (the original) with more boobies. Other than that, it was pretty meh.
Next on the chopping block is Shinryaku Ika Musume, then the rest of the Macross series (plural).
Pokemon Black and White is actually surprisingly good.
Been watching some of that Puella Magi Madoka Magica. Now I require more snacks.
