Most of that malware has been made obsolete by update patches.
Linux has less viruses/malware because less people use it. The same goes for Mac OS. Virus makers want to ensnare as many people as possible so they go after what the majority of people use, which is Windows. If other operating systems had more market share you'd see more viruses targeting them, and being open source, Linux is actually MORE vulnerable to exploits than a closed source OS like Windows.
First the malware has to have root and it doesn't. Even if it manages to get root somehow it has to get past AppArmor.
