Can get a pre-HDDhackr'd 250GB drive with the slim case etc from ebay for £32.

Very good deal. :]

£145 + £32 for the HDD = cheaper than the price of a 250GB and I get 4GB more and a matte finish. :]

So I suppose those aren't tracked by MS given that it's been a lot of time since people have been using those and I don't know about them getting banned. :P

They can't ban a hard drive from Live. It just clones a drive, definitely no problems with using them, people have been since about 2007.
