I watched it. It was porn.
Midget porn.
Did somebody mention porn?
I am much less dead then I was a few days back. It was awful.
I am so pissed, I went to to play zelda some more last night before going to bed both my save files went poof. all i had left to do was find the piece of triforce I was missing and then finish level 9 to beat the 2nd quest.:hotmad:
THE IRONY :really:
Another fine reason why using the actual hardware sucks.
Final stage in megaman/castlevania/whatever?
About to beat the final boss? game locks up/glitches out? YOU SHIT OUT OF LUCK PAL!
Well Grouch I feel your pain , had that happen far too many times on the real hardware .
Dead serious bout old ass hardware, had enough times on my NES where it would fuck up at the worst possible times, AND IT WAS BRAND NEW AND CLEAN.........
What console are you using Grouch?
He is using a NES DL.
Pretty sure the recent Everdrive version makes auto-backups of saves. The only way it can't is if the rom is bad (I think bad rom header is the main thing but you'd have to do some research).
Gobby blaming the hardware is just silly.
I mean if his hard drive dies and he loses all his games and his saves because he didn't make backups then how is that any different?
The computer itself might be fine in every other way but the hard drive has failed.
I know of someone here on EP that had a SSD die on him fairly recently. Those things have a lower fail rate than other hard drives.
Besides the one Xbox I had that stopped working under warranty, any other issues I've had with consoles have just been laser lens wearing out.
I've lost count of how many hard drives I've seen die over the many years I've been using both computers and consoles.
emulation is great if you don't have or feel like hooking up a console or for those really hard to find games or ones you just can't play on a console(imported games, hacks, mods).
I only use the best and I only had 1 HDD die on me...............it was a SEAGATE, working perfectly fine and just died out of the blue, it was in a imomega brand external, after reading bout seagate I'm never ever wasting money on that garbage again, sticking with Western Digital Purple.
Those are the biggest pieces of shit I've ever used, none of my Western Digital have died on me with YEARS of use.
Its also not that hard to set it up so your important data is auto backed up at set intervals to a cloud or external storage .
You're relying on something else besides your computers HDD...cloud or external storage. How is that any different to using a device on a console that can backup saves?
Grouch made a good point about hacks and stuff like that on emulators, but your point about old console hardware being shit is invalid.
Also, I've seen more hard drives die than you because I've been around them longer. They do die and usually when people aren't expecting it and aren't prepared for it.
Even if your HDD dies there are companies that take out the magnetic disks and recover your files for you (if youre willing to pay) also you can set up RAIDs to minimize the chances of being affected by an HDD failure, and you can also back your files up on cloud.
I'm not really sure what deadlegion is arguing for, that modern PC hardware is somehow worse or less reliable than multi-decade old hardware???
