But isn't it set before (or during?) the events of MGS4? And Raiden's the protagonist. And stuff. So basically it does have something to do with the franchise, even though the gameplay will be different.

Metal Gear Solid got too weird for me after the third game came out :shrug:.

As for the MGS series, yeah, they've been bullshitting everyone from the very beginning so why stop now? Hugely overrated franchise as a whole imho.
