I felt this way, too, until I got to about the third city and realized that nothing, not a damn thing, changes throughout each level.
You might be different, but the novelty of parkour wore thin for me pretty quickly, and there isn't a lot else that the game offers.
The sequel improves on a number of things, though. I hated AC1 and thought the second one was pretty okay. The biggest change is probably that the sidequests don't suck so hard anymore. There are assassin tombs/templar lairs (you exploring a dungeon/catacomb, much like in the first few minutes of AC1), assassination contracts (killing dudes in various ways based on the instructions you're given), plus you have a bigger arsenal of tools and weapons and generally more ways to deal with certain situations.
Still not GOTY material and the core gameplay remains mostly unchanged, but I had fun with it and it's not such a crushing disappointment as AC1.
Edit:
Uh, yeah. On-topic and stuff. I'm still kinda playing Xenogears, but it's getting harder and harder to motivate myself. The battle system is tedious as fuck, encounter rates are annoyingly high, and not much happened in the plot so far, aside from some vague foreshadowing that I -obviously- don't get. And I find it hard to care about any of the characters. I don't really find them especially interesting - so far at least. So yeah, the game is actually pretty boring right now. I'm guessing this is the "crap middle part" Ray was talking about. I really want to finish it, but my God is it testing my patience.
Yeah, I found myself trying really, really hard to grind through Xenogears for the same reason, but I found it satisfying in the end. You should try to get through it.
On topic: Getting around to playing Shadows of the Damned. Commence the dick jokes and surreal imagery.

If speaking in terms of ROM's, etc. - Pokemon Yellow, Emerald, and Crystal. Every thing else? Tekken 6, Final Fantasy XII - XIII. TMI? Idgaf.
I started Mega Man Star Force: Dragon to see if I would like it any more than Battle Network. And so far, the answer is no, I do not.
Which says something, considering I didn't like the majority of the Battle Network series.
Ace Combat 3 and Krazy Ivan.
Tales of Symphonia 2 on Mania mode.
Koronis Rift by Lucasfilm Games.
Currently re-playing to NTSC-U Version of Azure Dreams before going for the NTSC-J Version since I can't read Japanese and it's been years since I last played it

Playing NEStalgia (free MMO based on NES-style RPGs). Considering paying for the extra content, it's been a pretty decent game so far.

Just a fanmade game on RPG Maker VX that I found somewhere
Shadowman on PlayStation
Yes its the god awful version that should never had existed with its graphics stripped down to the minimum, a lot of world objects missing, half the frames of animation and Frames per second issues... but damn it i wanna see how far I can get before I lose the will to live xD
Streets of Rage 2 and Streets of Rage 3.
Splinter Cell.
Resuming Touhou Suijinshou, enjoying so far
Played Pandora no Tou for like an hour. Too early to give any comments, so I'll save it for later. Interesting premise, though. I mean, I can't say I've played another game where I'm trying to save a girl because she's slowly turning into a Lovecraftian tentacle-monstrosity.
playing suikoden v for the first time it is addictive but a bit slow with all the cut scenes and such

Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection - Vectorman
Just started Prince of Persia 2008.
After playing so much Uncharted over the last week or so, I needed a slight change of pace from all the shootan and the duckan and the coveran. So this seemed like a nice stepping stone.
Then I listened to the voice acting and realized that Nolan North does the voice of The Prince, as well as Nathan Drake. :lol
Agarest Zero. Many, many, hours will be lost on it.
Medal of honor: Vanguard :minkoff:
