With Atlus USA being a lot more prone to proper localization these days I don't see why they'd go back to the sort of stuff that caused them serious PR disasters back in the PSX days. The game itself, going off the japanese release, is pretty much faithful bar toning down the Nazi references (which largely worked out. Again, Hitler looks badass and the Iron Cross fills in nicely for the swastika while also providing more of that "Christianity is fucking weird" stuff we all know to expect from SMT) and being a bit less in-your-face about the homosexuality (which appears to be part of going for a lower age rating). I don't see how or why Atlus would go through the trouble of essentially making an entirely new game just to fuck with the fanbase like that, when the closest they've ever come to that was some serious script alteration (which had little to no plot relevance anyway). :shrug:
If an EP release does occur, the rule thus far with these remakes was to simply retranslate from scratch. Unless someone is particularly fond of certain....unique localizations it'll probably come through properly.
Wasn't it normally referred to as a talking rock since it was no longer plot relevant by that point? It's not like the characters would really remember the reference beyond "hey, it's a talking rock!" anyway.
