What's latency like and is it uncapped?

I'm supposed to get an "upgrade" to mine come Tuesday but it's being forced and it's $10 more a month. Livable increase but irritating nonetheless. I could "choose" to pass on it and then have my service dropped after whenever the cutoff date is. I'll potentially be losing my static IP but, they want too much for it.
Hopefully I won't need to put up with a gateway and they'll offer a plain modem or let me buy one. I want to continue to use my own router and not have to deal with some "app" controlled piece of trash.
Bought myself a cheap "modded" 360. Plays burnt games, came with a decent stack of them.
Had no idea what it had on it, so I followed a Jtag/RGH guide to add Xexmenu1.2, and upon loading my thumbdrive on the 360 Xexmenu1.2 just shows as corrupt data. Meaning I don't have a Jtag/RGH system (system can't run unsigned code), and merely have something like a flashed DVD drive, right? Can a flashed drive system do anything beyond playing burnt retail games? I'm kinda done Googling for the day :lol
No change for me for another couple months . I did get real answers to my questions. Setup is basically the same and I'll be able to continue using my current router but the provided one is at least bridgeable. The ISP wants people using their router for easy support crap :booger:. The way they were talking I'm hopeful that IP assignment will be the same as well and I'll continue to have a static IP (effectively).
finished penumbra black plague today that was a good game there were some hard spots that made me resort to a guide.
I installed penumbra overture and painkiller I was going to start overture but I needed a little break so I started painkiller that wasn't what I expected it's(so far) a fun arcade fps like serious sam.
Yeah DSL is more stable where I am but the top speed is absolutely pitiful. I've been on the highest tier fixed wireless locally for some time now.
DSL speeds have improved significantly in cities as far as I know but I probably wouldn't have seen such upgrades if DSL was ever available. What I found very annoying was that AT&T advertised for quite some time that DSL as available for my address only to then say otherwise when called. My speed jumps all over the place sometimes, it's been better in recent years. The new top speed will be more than enough for me.
My ISP offers up to 150mbps but I have no interest and wouldn't want to pay the rate.
I wouldn't mind 150mbps, but the fastest I can get in my area is 30mbps, which is what I'm on now. Mt friend who lives in the city has fiber. CenturyLink offers Fiber for $60-$65 where it is available. I think Comcast offers it for a little bit more. Those are the only two major ISPs in my area, besides some other smaller ones.
I have fibre but stick to a 100 mbps package. Almost a 100 bucks a month. I find that speed is just fine. No problems even with 4k streaming from something like say Disney+ whenever I get a free month promotion and so on, other than maybe a quarter second pause probably from some buffering thing but it's rare even while downloading something on another device. No point in getting the full 1 gbps that they offer, kinda overkill.
As Hunter would say "works for me"
I'm guessing that's CAD, which seems about right compared to what I have to pay for 75mbps - $70aud. Cheaper deals in cities over here, and higher speeds too... but rural fixed wireless there aren't many options.
If I drop down to a slower tier like 25 or whatever I don't save a huge amount, it's only like $20 cheaper iirc. The lowest tier is 12 but the cost is dumb for the speed, plus ul speed is only 1 iirc :lol
If it's in CAD that'd be around $75US. It's not completely insulting but I wouldn't pay it. The rates you're getting sound much better than nearly anything on offer here.
The only reason I pay as much as I do is that the lower speeds just seem even more overpriced
And the lowest tier seriously seems pointless because of the upload speed.
I pretty much have the best value for money locally.
DSL is capped locally at about 5-6mbps iirc (has to do with the exchange that was never upgraded since fixed wireless tower was built)... and the other thing is that my line was moved to another address since I stopped using it and no free lines left now. So going back to that would have a hefty connection fee.
Actually local DSL cap might be lower than 5 :thot:
I'd have to talk to someone about that. It's really shit anyway... the only good thing about is stability, but you can't use it for gaming or anything like that.
I play some things on my pitiful 3mbps connection :revwacko:.
The only improvement I expect to get for games is not having it wet the bed if other things are eating some bandwidth. It'd be nice if the dips don't drop to <80kb/s; I won't hold my breath.
The problem with fixed wireless, here at least, is that when local usage is high you can notice it. But I haven't played online for ages so it doesn't really bother me.
It is nice being able to update a crapton of XB1 games in a couple of hours instead of taking weeks or more :lol
Also large PS4 pkg's don't take forever to dl.
So I could only pay like $50 per month instead of $70 but my speed would only be one third of what I have now.
I have thought about it recently but it just seems like a terrible idea to save such a small amount of money.
Hey Grouch have you played ET The Extra Testical?
Yes and yes.
It's a really old hack but I don't recall noticing it before.Quote:
hack of Atari's E.T. The Extra Terrestrial that mocks previous attempts at creating adult titles on the 2600. Yep, that's right, Christian Samuel has created an adult version of E.T. In this modified version, E.T. has returned to earth because he left his sex toy behind. You must help E.T. find all the pieces so he can return home!
Spoiler warning:
so close to beating painkiller I'm at the last boss. tried to beat him yesterday but couldn't so I looked up a guide, the guide said it was so easy  I only got two chances to do what the guide said an both times it didn't work.
so I started up penumbra overture and found out that black plague was a sequel, it feels like overture might be a little harder than black plague.
Yeah there are some 2600 hacks. Some are "improvements" like Custer's Viagra but a lot are changed enemy and character sprites to create a new game theme eg: Dr. Who: Dalek Invasion (Berzerk hack).
I think I might have seen that one.
yeah just like the save bug where the game hard locks when you try to load a manual save on the docks level happened to me twice.
I don't know if it's a bug or if the guides are wrong(or missing info) it might just be me unable to beat him.
