If you've never watched all of it many years ago then the cgi will bother you. Classic stuff though, the cgi was pretty brilliant for tv at the time.

I spy booty jiggle!
I even watched the Starship Troopers CG series. :nerd:
It's decent I tell you!
And screw you I liked that movie. :pwacko: Objectively it's not great though.
My standards are very low. Which should really say something about Universe and anything on CBS. :booger:
I just have a cheap 43" 1080p tv atm, but the built-in media player it has is pretty decent (good menu, files listing and x264/mp4 support but no x265). It's only a cheap 50/60Hz model but it does have 24p film mode which actually works really well (sometimes it won't on cheap units). Current BD player is a cheapie too but it's all DVD region + all BD region (selectable), can recode audio output. I haven't tested the DVD upscaling on it extensively yet but it seems ok.
spurtttzzzzzz squirtz
My old BD player only gets used as a CD player now :lol It's cheap too but has some Sony internals iirc.
I'd be interested in seeing how the VP30 compares directly to the VP50 Pro/Edge/Duo but, I'm way too cheap to buy all those .
Maybe it's different now but a few years back scalers in some BD players were actually better than some other options. I mean PS3 upscaling was good.
Really depends on the chip involved.
Now it doesn't matter so much but there are probably still cheap chips being used in some things that don't do a good job. My old BD player has decent upscaling so I've never had any bad experiences so far
Never used any game consoles for playing DVD or BD myself though, always thought it was wasteful using them for things other than games but that's just me.
My PS3 gets way more use as a BD player than a game console.
Probably won't upgrade my receiver for some years even though the Yamaha I have is old now.
Yeah plenty of people have said that for years "PS3 good cheap BD player". But my old BD player was a lot cheaper than a PS3 and does the same job (I had it long before I had the console).
To me the PS3 was never a cheap BD player until recently, and even now there are cheaper options that are just as good.
Yeah I mean, I'm just not going to buy an extra unit when I have the PS3 already for games.
It was a solid choice when the PS3 hit around $300 if you also wanted it because it was a PS3 . If I were going to buy a standalone BD player it'd be one of the region free Oppo players. I'll probably get one at some point but, I'm going to have to make sure I don't get one of the crappy new ones that will be complying with the MAFIAA's new encryption crap.
The cheap BD player I got is all regions and cost $60. For BD you have to change region by code via the menu.
Every other BD player here under $100 (that I know of anyway) is BD region locked.
Had to google that.
I still see posts about it (usually there's a sadface.gif or something) when I'm looking at torrents.
wat
Memes.
Can't post any right now 'cos I'm about to head out.
Cinavia can crawl under the nearest rock and die .
Ok now it's time to play games! ;)
Although I have no earthly fucking idea what to play >.>
YAY! games. speaking of games I've been playing a super mario world hack today called super mario land 3. whoever designed it has a wicked sense of humor castle 3 has slippery floors and invisible pitfalls I've lost 6+ lives on that place so I stopped playing and started watching season 2 of the A-team.
Uncharted 4 phaw. You know I have no PS4.
