Such have been made, and such shall be answered. A Roman legion varied from 1000 to 6000 men, depending on when in history you look. The Czech Legions in the Russian Civil War had, at most 65000 men. For a battallion, I can only find American values, which are between 300 and 1000. Small difference, even ignoring the millenia between Rome and America, or the almost-century between the Russian Civil War and modern day. ;)
