Also not entirely true now I think about it. I believe there was a time when a server didn't want to host the site because of the legalities of hosting roms and everything had to be moved. So a host can close things down too I suppose.
Yes a web host can shutdown a site but they can't delete the database backup you have made locally ;)
Discord can delete what it likes, read the terms of use etc. You have no control over that at all you're at their mercy.
Anyway discord and forums are 2 completely different things. It's fucking crazy people using a chat platform to replace repositories of knowledge.
It's like burning books and everyone using a megaphone instead :wacko:
Thankfully our forums are still here, but there are sites that have closed forums completely and pushed people to discord.
It's madness.
I have Discord, but its mainly for chatting with friends. I don't use it to distribute files. I miss forums, they're a dying breed. I blame spy...smartphones for the decline of forums. At least EP is around for now.

Multi disc Dreamcast games didn't work and there were other random non-ninty things that no longer worked. I've seen people talking about that on the likes of reddit and that was back before covid started.

I think it might've gotten stripped not long after mine but I'm not certain. I'm pretty sure a joke or two I made when I was a mod went over very poorly but it's been too long to remember for certain.
