It may be different over there, but if you use cash irl here you can haggle some good prices almost anywhere.
If you use card or cheque you won't get the absolute cheapest prices.

Also, if you go somewhere that has a card transaction system failure (or no system at all) you're pretty much up shit creek without a paddle.
