G'day all.
Gotta keep an eye on those poor people. When things get really bad they riot and try to eat you.
All the EMTs I've ever known have had two jobs.
Also, being on any level of the EMS system sounds lame.
What you do mean I have to run all the way back to the truck to get the oxygen?
Pfft, it's right on the wall over the bed.
Tired of doing chest compressions?
Well, it's a good thing you hit the Code button when you walked into the room. Lots of people on the way to do it for you!
Also, also, I don't know it was possible to be a teacher with an associate's.
That sounds cray cray.
You can actually teach without a degree. You just have to be above the level you are teaching (well, it's mostly referred to as tutoring).
Have a cert IV in a particular field + cert IV in Training and Assessment. Then you can teach cert I-III in your particular field.
Or have several certs for different fields and teach more than one.
Many certs can be done in less than 6 months, it really depends on how much time you have.
Less likely to deal with kids...from that point of view the next best thing would be teaching at uni.
Really? That's something I've never seen mentioned anywhere. Although I'm not sure if I would ever enjoy teaching a University class. I really have ever considered teaching to be around kids and help them grow a bit. Although it seems people are trying to make it so teachers aren't even allowed to touch a kid. I remember when I was in elementary school(I feel this should be capitalized) we would hug our old teachers if we saw them. Now it seems like people are shunning teachers if they even hug a kid. :S
Your system might be completely different
But tertiary here consists of uni (degrees and the like) and TAFE < which is mostly certificates, some diplomas and trade related stuff. Most universities have their own TAFE division, so when you get a cert in whatever it's from a recognised uni.
You wouldn't be able to teach at uni with cert IV in Training and Assessment, but many RTO's will take you on (registered training organisation).
It may even be possible to teach low level certs at TAFE, but I can't verify that.
Of course you aren't entitled to teacher's awards if you just have certs. But then there is far less work involved too :P
