My theory?

Don't give the African nations food. They don't need hand-outs. They need someone to show them how to fend for themselves.

That and they need land that can fucking grow food. Deserts can't grow crops.

Which is exactly what Norman Borlaug does: He travels to third world countries and spreads the proper farming techniques and technology to feed the people, and develops crop strains specialized to thrive in the local climates. He started in Mexico and worked his way across the world. He increased the food output of India seven fold... while it was fucking at war with pakistan. He was busy doing his work in the middle of a goddamn war zone. He got a nobel peace prize for it in 1970 and is widely credited as saving a billion lives worldwide from hunger.
