Trust me it's impossible to get caught just for _________________________________________.

If you get charged, your more unlucky than a lucky person who wins the lottery is lucky.

Ok so basically i was wondering this atm, its quite dangerous to download with cable companies watching us, recently got a warning mail for downloading through p2p...i was wondering without a vpn (cant afford one atm) is it really safe to download modern games such as pokemon black? i have a program called Peer Block but dont think it would help...and i really want to play pokemon black but broke atm as recently stated...at the same time it isn't worth it getting caught if the cable company is truly watching us now...maybe i'm just being paranoid, but i'm looking for some light on this matter.
Hide behind 9,001 proxies.
Forreal though if you are really worried there are some anonymous browsers. You should be able to troll your isp with them. Idk. You could always go to a library or something.
Well this is just a what if scenario but, lets say they did decide to come knocking, and i said i had no idea what they were talking about and that someone else might have snuck onto my wifi, do they have any right to do anything? with the Ip evidence is that enough to get a waarant to search my computer's?...im not really that scared, im more so just trying to get info, cause the more you know, usually the better off you'll be.
Internet Service Providers get these notices all the time, but only a small percentage actually get passed on to their customers. I'm guessing its to super repeat offenders who don't... 'turn on or force encryption', 'disable legacy connections', 'randomize ports', 'enable dynamic ip addresses through your modem or router', etc...
While proxies could be helpful, they really aren't necessary in most cases, and will often slow down your speeds.
Remember while these warnings were simply passed on to you by your ISP, law enforcement agencies can't obtain their customer's info WITHOUT a court order. Be a little more careful in the future, and you'll be fine.
That's exactly what i'm wondering, you see i got the notice like 3 months after downloading a game, but that was just 1 out of many...and so im a bit nervous, and wondering what is required for them to actually get a court order? is it simply just like "Hey bob, i'm bored you wanna go get a court order and bust this scrub for fun" or does it actually have a set of requirements that have to be met first...if i could understand the process i could be way more careful...i've already downloaded Peer Block but its not fool proof, if worst comes to worst i want to be able to fight it, although i'm not as crazy as some of the people you see on the news getting tried for downloading like 9000 songs...and many people say it is very unlikely...my luck sucks, so if you can explain the legal requirements id be a bit more at ease.
I got caught once for downloading porn. It was such a strange letter I got. It said, "you should not continue to download things like *insert porn title*, because the women in it are not nearly attractive enough". The joke is on them though because those weren't women.
:lmao:
Don't know why everyone gets so paranoid. The chance is so minimal it's ridiculous. Doesn't mean it can't happen though, just very rare. Been downloading since the days of dial-up bbs boards back in 90-91. Nothings ever happened to me.
Although this black van that's been following me lately....
Didn't Polo get nailed for something way back when :thot:
I been downloading since 2002, mainly old PC games, some newer, emulators/roms, and music (metal/rock mainly) Never got a letter, never had a phone call.
That explains why you got caught, downloading via P2P increases your likelihood of being caught because you are connected to others during download through torrents, other people (as well as companies) are able to see your IP address and if you are extremely unlucky, the copyright holders might get a hold of your IP address and email a warning to you via your ISP.
Just stick to download from file hosts for the time being.
20GB ain't much. Plus.. volume doesn't matter at all. 1 (one) song can get you in just as much shit.Quote:

In the USA, your likelihood of getting caught downloading is directly proportional to the amount of child porn you are downloading.
These letters are fraudulent. While the claims they make about the laws and penalties are true, there is no authority attached. The same company keeps opening, spamming people, and being shut down. Apparently media companies pay them enough to keep re-opening, then the authorities find out and shut them down again. It's been in the news several times.
Hi Ho
A few years ago, when I had been suspected of announcing an amok warning, the cops even had my external HDD confiscated for some days, but I got them back and nothing else happened.
:D
See ya

That is what I use.
Spoiler warning:
i have downloaded so much freaking music over the last couple of years. unless i lost my memory in between those years i don't think i've gone to prison. i think the only way you can get into trouble is if you download something and try to sell it to somebody else. other then that i think you will be fine.
All downloading methods and ways works for me... never got caught for downloading anything.
eternal_w- same here. Then again I'm not STUPID enough to do something like that moron who uploaded the latest Wii Super Mario game and ended up being caught by Nintendo.
PROTIP - Stay AWAY from new stuff or at least don't go around bragging about it!
I have about 270 gigs or 340 gigs of just stuff I downloaded that is illegal :/ not counting the stuff I deleted awhile ago.
ps2 games took way more space then I thought, plus pc games but now I just buy my pc games and most the non pirated ps2 games on my computer take around 25 gigs all together but I've yet to get the rest on my computer :/
really the only pc games I steal are import ero lol buy the rest. :P
i very highly doubt your going to get caught here unless the government it going to flip shit for you downloading an old sega or an old snes rom and as long as EP doesnt "Endorse" piracy EP will stay safe
id say wait i couple of years to download it just to be on the safe side and dont be a moron and dl something w/o protection i.e peerblock
i never get caught:biggrin:
out of curiosity, how safe is this site? when i found it 6 years ago, all i had to do was google 'download gba for free'. couldnt a cop just do that and shut the site down?
If this sites been going for 10 years and has not been shut down yet, unless something crazy gets added, this site is safe.
I think we're safe on this website.I'm fairly new to emulating, it will be a year this summer, but I'm careful enough so I don't get caught. I think that if you are smart about it and don't pull stupid shit, you'll be fine. I'm not really worried about it.
