Everything up to X4 was really good, but after that it sorta got bland for me. X2 was my favorite one.
I'll put some of my input.
X1: Awesome start for the series, I loved the darker plotline and Zero's death scene. Music was great - even the non-fan-favorite themes kick ass.
X2: Very nice expansion of the first game, better levels, music still rocks. The side quest for Zero is neat, too, even though the side battles are a bit annoying.
X3: This one SUCKS. It's not worthy of "SUCKS", but it's mediocre. It lacks emotion, level design is boring, art is uninspired, the music is awful (minus gravity beetle). The Ride Armors were nice, and I liked how the bosses later on change depending on how did you beat Bit and Byte.
X4: Oh bloody hell, I love this one. I don't know exactly why - maybe it's the weapons, maybe it's the levels, maybe it's the kickass armor. No, wait, it's because of Zero, but the rest adds a lot, too.
X5: I like how the plotline twists depending on what you do. It's got nice music, very good level design, and letting you switch between X and Zero was really nice.
However the time limit was annoying. And Dynamo. Oh man, FUCK DYNAMO.
Although I kinda like X6, it might've been better if the series ended here. Would have been a glorious end.
X6: Pros: Absolute best soundtrack on the X series, bar none. Maybe even in all of Mega Man. The art deserves a lot of praise. Myself, I like the bosses here (particularly Heatnix).
Cons: Level design at it's absolute WORST. Pits, pits, pits!!
WHO THE FUCK CODED SENTSUIZAN TO SEND ME DOWNWARDS WHEN I PRESS UP!?! WHOEVER YOU ARE, OUT THERE, FUCK YOU!!
X7: This one isn't as bad as most people make it out to be. Unlocking X sucks but Axl plays quite well. The soundtrack is the worst on the whole series, the model characters do look grainy (even with component cables....), but it still manages to be worthy of the Mega Man title.
What sucks most about X7 is that at first you have to play through the levels many times to get upgrades (because of how underpowered are the player characters).
X8 is waiting until I finish X7.
Maverick Hunter X was an A-grade remake. The only thing that it would have needed would've been Zero as a playable character and
Spoiler warning:
I can't even recall the GBC games.
That's all there is... no?
If Capcom makes a X9, I hope they release it to PC as well, but as of now they are canceling many games of the series (Legends 3 and Universe), we cannot hope too much for a new X. But they are rebooting DMC, they could reboot Megaman too.
Just beat Megaman X3, so easy. Lol.
Now to beat X and X2. xD
i've owned and beaten each of the X series games before (still got X, and X6). I think command mission was one of 3 megaman RPGs i ever liked much, the others being the legends games.
i think i only managed to do a perfect run on one of the X games was the 1st game on snes, and i only managed that once. no damage (outside the vile fights where you HAVE to take damage to progress), all sub/heart tanks gathered, all bosses beaten, and in under 30 minutes too, never managed to do it a 2nd time though :/ and that was without a emulator of any kind (not easy to do a perfect run through a megaman game)
hardest game for me would probably have to be 8 out of the classic series, that game has some hard final boss stages but then again the classic series was always hard in general which made it fun
I rage quit Mega Man 8 after Wily Stage 1 and losing about 50 lives.
Made X6 look like fun.
People tell me that the JUMP JUMP SLIDE SLIDE section isn't hard, and that it's the Thunder Claw whipping section after it that's hard, which I never had a problem with it the whole ONE TIME I made it through the JUMP JUMP SLIDE SLIDE section. Then I lost what lives I had left to the boss because I suck with the Mega Ball and that boss room is designed to troll Rush Charger, went back to the JUMP JUMP SLIDE SLIDE section and lost my mind because RRRRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGG !
Mann, you guys are crazy. The jump jump slide slide parts gets annoying, but it's easy once you get to see the whole thing. Then again I can do the DK Country mine cart level without getting touched. xD
Megaman 2 was my favorite of the original series. I actually played through that game several times before I figured out you could charge up Heat Man's weapon. I thought it was kinda broken in where Metal Man's weapon worked very well on a few bosses including the Metal Man clone. I think that was the only megaman game where multiple weapons were super effective against a boss, poor Wood Man got owned. Either a charged up flame or a saw to the face, your choice bro....
Well, if we really want to talk about op weapons, Storm Tornado. 'Nuff said.
Roll Shield(The weapon you get from armored armadillo?) Was pretty beast. It broke the game but so did Storm Tornado and Sting Chameleons weapon(forgot the name, its been a while)
Rolling Shield in no way broke X1. Now, when it came to Xtreme 1 for the Game Boy, that thing was broken. It basically allowed you to walk on spikes. Of course, Chameleon Sting ALSO let you do that in X1... and pass through enemies. Plus it was multidirectional, so it could kill a lot of things.
As a maker of TAS videos rolling shield is far more broken. Bigger enemies and spikes are completely avoidable in every occasion except for maybe 2. The most useless weapon though is the boomerang. I never ever use it except for the one boss (4th to last stage? The dinosaur robot head thing) I still have trouble getting the hadouken though.
I only used Rolling Shield to kill Sigma's last form tbh. :P
Rolling Shield is actually my favorite barrier type weapon in the X series.
My favourite weapon in X1? I go with Megamanax and say Storm Tornado. And the Boomerang (B. Cutter, I opened my emulator in the last boss stage to see the names of weapons, but I can't remember the full name), besides being the best weapon against Sting Chamelleon, it can cut off the trump from the fire elephant (don't remember the name) and the tentacles of Squid Octopus. It makes those battles much easier. But my favourite weapon of the whole X series, until now (I didn't beat X7), is Yammar Option (X6). I can get through any situation with it fully charged, but the cons is that it shoots randomly.
I prefer Fire Wave in X1, but as for entire series, I prefer a charged Spin Wheel.
Oh yeah, and I forgot to say, for me original MegaMan 8 was easy. I finished it 5 years ago, and I didn't even know how to speak english (today I don't know very much too, but I think people can understand me). JUMP JUMP SLIDE SLIDE sounded like "CHAN-CHAN-SHUARSH-SHUARSH", but thanks god I have good coordinations and fast sight (if that means something). But it was a very nice game, maybe I'll play it again sometime just to understand the story.
God. Wheel Gator is my favorite Mega Man X enemy ever. He's just so brutal. xD
I hate his boss fight, but I love his weapon.
guys can u help where i can download ps2 games|??please help..want to play more ps2 games..especially megaman..tnx for the help
Most of the time his boss fight just drags on because of the whole hide under the sludge deal. Mainly because I don't have the godlike timing needed to hit him with the Strike Chain right as his invincibility frames to keep him above the surface. And twin busters (my preferred method of boss killing) is just... so slow...
forgot about this thread (been playing dwarf fortress >.>) but for why i had a harder time on 8 than X, for me at least the series tends to get progressively harder with older games whereas new games are real easy for me. X8 would be far easier than say, x3 (thats the one with bit, and byte right?) for me.
heres a thought for wheel gator, set the sludge on fire (too bad we can't in the game)
The only things that make X8 in any way easy are Sigma Blade, Prickle Barrier (spike protection) and the fact that there's an ultimate armor for the main trio of characters.
I freakin' love X8, only because of Axl. And it was my first Megaman X game that I've played lol. xD
I only used Axl to get the metals that were needed for him, then I stuck with X and Zero.
Mainly Zero though. As I always have since X4.
I actually didn't hate X8. It was a welcome step up from X7 at least. Lol
Sadly (?), I cannot play X7 anymore, it's crashing on my PC, then I had to restart the whole thing, and I didn't like it. I don't have a PS2, nor my PC can run its emulator, so it's officially out of my list in the X series (for now). I'll just jump to X8 then, since it seems there's no major story connecting the games (I simply stopped following it on X6).
You're not missing much on X7. Any part where you're going left or right is fine, but as soon as you start moving forward, the gameplay becomes horribly annoying. Not to mention the VA is some of the worst I've ever heard.
BURN BURN BURN TO THE GROUND BURN TO THE GROUND BURN BURN BURN BURN BURN BURN BURN BURN BURN TO THE GROUND BURN TO THE GROUND
And also;
TRIANGLE TRIANGLE TRIANGLE KICK TRIANGLE TRIANGLE TRIANGLE TRIANGLE KICK TRIANGLE TRIANGLE TRIANGLE TRIANGLE TRIANGLE
And of course, the worst of them all... "But Reddddddddd!"
Sigma's was seriously the ONLY good voice in that game.
xD Please, no more. I can only take so much of these horrid memories.
wonder if there will ever be a Final X game?
well at least X8 had a decent English Voice cast, X7 was just horrid .
We know how the X series ends, we just need a game to either bridge the gap to it or actually portray the events.
Funny how that bastard said "AH, IT'S YOU THAT IT'S CAUSING MY SUFFERING". You can't imagine how much I would have liked to reply like in, say, Monkey Island, and tell him "YES, I THINK THE SAME, YOU'RE MAKING MY EARS BLEED!! F*** YOU!"
X7 had a lot of things going for it, but just like X6, failed miserably in the "fun" department.
Final game of ANYTHING? You know the company behind the saga is Capcom, right?
They will either release a thousand games of it, or let it fade into darkness before dying.
So is the case with Mega Man, at least. I have waited 13 years for the day in which I see a game that would connect the end of the last classic game with Mega Man X. I think the day will never come.
EDIT: Alternatively, they might just talk about a game and can it 1/10 into production.
tl;dr? No, Mega Man X will never end. It will die, and given what happened to Legends 3 and Universe I really doubt Capcom would even talk about X9.
EXE/Battle Network ended, as did Zero. So it's not like ending a series is something that has NEVER happened in Mega Man.
Totally random, but Zero was always way cooler to me than megaman, with his all-powerful Star Wars lightsaber :doink:
