I buy plenty of games already. I refuse to download current gen titles, but old stuff like NES games and the like are fine by me. I doubt Nintendo needs me to buy some NES games over amazon that badly for them. But, yes, I save money this way and still get my game, and that's the way I like it.
I think for me is to:
Save money,,,
Save Time,,, (waiting for the item)
Less Effort,,, (availability)
That's part of the reason I do it, considering gaming is the most expensive habit I have. Other than that, it's to play the games that I otherwise wouldn't be able to play.
I download Everything (wii, psp, ps1, ds, pc) i only every buy 360 games because i dont have a 360 capable of playing copys. Boo hoo. If i did i would.
Download, not gonna waste money on stuff you have to unlock with more money while on disk.
Only a very few games will be bought, of which are Zelda games. Anything PS3 will recieve the download.
Oh, yes. Piracy's a low-effort high-reward occupation, so I download just about everything. Ebooks, music, shows, movies, apps, games, you name it.
Only time I'd ever have a physical copy of something is when I burned it myself or when someone has lent it to me.

Yeah, although if I think something is worthy of a purchase I'll usually shell out the cash when I have it. I think the overwhelming majority of people pirate simply because it's free though, and also obviously because it's much easier than... well... getting out of your chair. xD Most justifications for piracy come off sounding like excuses though, and I'm sure most people can agree that it's wrong. Regardless, the people will always find ways to exploit the system, so debating the moral quandaries of piracy will end up being pointless either way. Having your cake and eating it too is just too tempting, especially when there's shit loads of free cake floating around that you can get delivered right to your room. :wacko:

Sure I do. It helps that I live in Canada, though, where "piracy" isn't as big of a deal as in the US.

I actually end up buying a lot of the stuff I download, I just need to get the cash for it.
I got 50mb cable internet, it is not only cheaper but more convenient for me to just download it.
Even newer releases of games, I download the full versions and try them first, and if I like them and plan on playing and finishing them then I buy. If I download, play for 30 minutes and realize this game sucks, then I chunk it in the recycle bin and forget about it. 90% of the games I download and play aren't worth paying $60 for.
Most recent game I downloaded first and then payed for was Witcher 2
I typically download to test out a game, or simply to play something that is no longer available in stores. Any titles I'm really excited over (or indie games) I make a point of purchasing to support the developers.

Every game ever is above $100, so yep, that's why I download everything.
I download because I don't always have the resources to get some of the older games, and its good to have portability with games because I am usually always near a computer.

Seriously, copying games for you is one thing. Lending a copy to a friend is one thing.

I usually download a game if I cant find it in my town, I would buy from an online source but you never quite know what your going to get. There are the exceptions of trying one out. If I like it enough then yes I'll buy it.

Well, even though I did Homebrew my Wii, I almost never download games simply because I want to support the industry. However, that does not mean I am any less of a cheapskate, since I invariably wait until the game goes under 10$ on Steam, or is placed in a bargain-bin.
I usually download other forms of electronic media: music, movies, apps etc. Although I usually do end up purchasing DVD's both out of sense of collection ("Collectors Edition") and for the Special Features. So the only things that I actually pirate are music and apps.
But I have gone through a couple bulimic pirating binges were I grab everything I see simply because it is there, feel guilty, then purge 95% of it.
I Download because I don't have the money to Buy Video games all the time. I tend to only buy Video Games I really want, Like persona, Or Final Fantasy, or Kingdom Hearts ect.
I also only Download games I wouldn't be able to buy easily anymore (At least, without the aid of a Credit Card)
I download cus i dont have money, and gamestop has decided to stop selling old games, just because they are old.
Download to try and if I like the game, I'll buy it retail.
Downloading and p2p has made actually purchasing video games obsolete.

I like the Netflix model. We need this for video games. One subscription rate to play all the most popular new games, with an additional charge to have older games sent to you would be great. I know there is OnLive, but I don't know if this is how they charge. If it is, it would be THE greatest service for PC gamers ever conceived of. Until then, I get console classics online and newer games on Steam. As Alakazander said, I <3 the great deals on older games. I picked up quite a few games in the $2.50-7.50 price range that are very rare and expensive to get a physical copy for console. PC gaming is so much better. :D
I used to buy games in the past but now I download them instead. I'm a sucker for old PS1/PSX games.
hardly any new games i even care to try come out anymore, so aside from it being free i prefer sticking with games ps2 and older mostly, finished downloading the genesis/megadrive/32X romset a few days ago on dang dial-up (it still exists and it still sucks big time) of all things a few days ago
actually i think i've only bought around 4-6 games so far this year
never in hell i will use my lunch money on game ...NEVER..>.>
I download so that I don't waste too much time on games. Games that I buy, I find that I end up playing them to death to "get my money's worth", while games I download, I try them for a little while, then delete them, and I'm satisfied. Helps me satisfy my gaming habits while still being able to have time to do other things.
There are only a few games worth to buy like starcraft 2 or battlefield 3, others can just download from web
