You said it. I've been hearing impaired all my life because of Scarlet Fever I had as a baby so I wear hearing aids. Now I have three glasses with different scripts. One I call my close up/computer glasses, one long distance/driving glasses and one bifocals.
:Solaire:
I can relate. I'm nearsighted and I almost need my glasses when playing 3DS.
I also can't drive at night thanks to cataracts.
the crowd I've been hangin with lately are all disabled, with chronic pains x-D they dont have the fortune to have a healthy videogaming background, so I'd say don't forsake it!
The gesture alone is worth one's life!
You say C64? Man, I love The Magic Candle (easy to play fullscreen on Dosbox) and it took a hobo on speed to show me how to autofight my way through Curse of the Azure Bonds lol. Blew my freakin mind... shoulda left after that- everything else I learned on the streets after that guy has just been.. lyrical knowledge heheh
You're probably in a position most people would be jealous to be in- find people who can appreciate your pain, and maybe you can respect their appreciation of your pleasures, as well.. pity its often not those old friends, who leave us such scars, that can fill that seemingly-perfect-fitting hole...
I'm still a kid at heart. I like toys. LOL. :Tidus:
I hiiiiighly recommend the Dare to Dream series.. it's like Myst/Ryven without the pretentious air.. more like, quirky and inspired ^^
FEEEEL GOOOOOD!
Speaking of old, I've been alive for 3 decades now.
I'm 45 now and my life has always sucked; more or less. Gaming is my respite from reality.
Gaming used to my escape from a crummy reality but now it is too much stress. It's crossword puzzles for me.
I'm 22 and i feel old. Yeah, i think that's too young for such a feeling...
I lost my interest in improving, but i feel better for daily, common stuff such as drinking water, looking at my bedroom or level grinding in pokemon.
Another thing i lost interest in, is competitive play. I'm not interested in winning anymore, but i'm interested in teaching others how to play well. Teaching stuff is a quality for old people, and you probably can teach some teens how to play guitar.
I could teach someone to play guitar but I forgot how to play guitar. Sad but true.
That what happens mate. My talent was drug fueled and when that stopped so did the talent.
Well wouldn't say that I lost interest. I play video games as did I when I was you, however, my habits have changed due to pressure from RL and obligations which I have to fulfil :) still I get back to my hobbies from time to time.
When I got older I lost interest in playing most games. Flight sims are still fun though.
Ohh been there too..luckily now everything is getting back to normal, I mean my soul is getting younger again :D
I have lost my interest in teaching others. Also, i have a bitter taste in playing games, because i don't play to complete anything, but rather just play. But i'm still playing, because the bitter taste of playing games is better than the depression of doing nothing.
I've been playing Oddworld New'n'Tasty lately and gosh, it brings back so many memories. Can't believe it's been more than 20 years since the original came out.
How you doin Froggy?
Yup. September 19, 1997. It's been 22 years.
Oh, you made me remember when it was common to rent games. You know, like, the actual game disc. Not like today, that you rent a bunch of data at full price from the PSN or the Marketplace or Steam claiming you "bought" the game.
I turned 25 a couple of weeks ago, and i found myself playing billiards. A "gentleman's" sport.
You know when youre really screwed, when youre going bald..
yea..i am getting older and still a loser
Yep. For the price of a next-gen console, I could get a new graphics card that supports real-time ray-tracing. I'll wait and see how this gen plays out. I do however like that Microsoft tried to make their Xbox Series X as backward as compatible as possible though. Even going back to OG Xbox and Xbox 360 games.
I think that's a good choice. However, I feel somehow unconfortable with playing on PC. I know that's lame, but I totally can't help it. I've always preferred consoles and either I'm going to buy a next-gen one eventually or enjoy my PS4 before it becomes actual retrogaming.
I totally get you. I actually like playing on consoles more than PC. Sure the graphics and you can mod and have a lot more settings on PC, but I just like to hop in and play. Plus if you have crappy internet, whats the point if you have to wait hours or days to download a game that is lots of GB in size.
Just buy a long HDMI cable and hook your PC up to your TV. Then you can launch Steam on your PC and push the game over to your TV. Windows+Steam will use an Xbone controller just fine, and run basically all the PS4/5/Xbone games. (I did this a while ago, and don't play it at all!)
I still prefer consoles that you just slap a cart in and play, but all the multiplats on consoles nowadays basically make modern consoles obsolete. Except the Switch of course ^^;;; Nintendo, actually making exclusive proprietary games, what a shocking new idea!
Something that works is to engage a goal or goals for it , not just arriving at certain conditions and call it a day. For example fighting games are really getting big with the online mods of emulatos like Fightcade and others, how about battle royal or even racing games (but i am talking about really learning the techniques and theory to play semi-simulation, full simulation games even acquiring a wheel). In short you have to commit and form a protocol to improve in your hobbies not just videogames, this happened to me too even at Djing, Beatmaking, Listening to certain genres which i needed to explore more indie stuff of the same atmosphere of genres, and so on.
It may not entirely be an age issue, but i understand that while you grow up a pain in the knee becomes 20 things to do in the week plus meds to buy and on top of that the ordinary usual shit at home.
But trust me it is something that happen when you enter a no way out street, no matter the age.
I have a TV/Monitor combo. It functions as both a TV and a monitor. It supports HDMI, VGA and of course has a coax jack for antennas or cable. I actually got reception using a old NES RF Switch for some TV channels.
