What was that?
Ash's Saga was the best?!?

There are too many huge seires of games that do have very good games but also have the odd bad egg in there
Silent Hill I love most the games even that wierd Wii one but then there is the Vita one and I still think 1 is the best it just need a graphics update
Most the Final Fantasy games are very good except III (Nes version and remakes) that was just dull for me, IX I never got into so can't comment much there was VIII has mixed opinions (I liked it even if the theory was flawed) X again mixed opinions, X-2, just what... over all Final Fantasy is great, though not sure you can call it a series though
Resident Evil, yes I do love these games, but I would not say each next game was better than the previous one, as much as I loved 5 I'm not so sure it beats 4 though to be honest that is a close one if you are only looking at the main series (including Veronica), so no light gun ones and no Outbreak ones or Merc ones, I'm sure I missed something there, not sure if Revelations can be counted though I don't think it improved at anything technical it is still a very good game and continues the story
Project Zero.. hmm I would say yes to that, only 4 main games and they do seem to improve each time while still giving us a new story
Grand Theft Auto... Yes and no, if you could the Stories series nope even though they are good 4 I thought was good but not as good as San Andreas 5 thankfully was much more, still not sure it was a San Andreas beater but it is very good anyway, over all though graphics and engine GTA has always gotten better with each new game, even the Stories games improved on the games they are based on.. not so sure of the Vice City Stories but the other one certainly did EDIT I clean forgot about China Wars :/ though that was originally DS game so could be considered a side spin off
Metal Gear yeah I like to think that one has (I refuse to include Raiden's game in that though :P) MG1 and 2 (MSX versions) then the Solid Series PSX and re-make PS2 2 & 3 then 4, PSP games not counted
To be honest I do like RE4 over 5 too and I would include Veronica in that of course as it was still the old school style. Tough pick between 2 and 3 as well but having Nemesis chase you around was great and the different paths you can take too. And 2 is well 2, its fantastic.
I was just trying to bug Elmdor as well :P
I'd say the NA releases of Fire Emblem have only improved so far
F-Zero in my opinion is the only series that got better over time.
What about Revelations, that to be fair is a good game though that is originally a 3DS game and I have not played the PS3 version of it that I may buy just so I have a TV screen to play it on, plus I wouldn't mind seeing what online features it has on the PS3 if any. Not 100% sure when that one got released, I also loved the remake of the first game even though I would still play both versions and even Resident Evil Zero that I thought was great and a nice gap filler for the over all story around the Mansion/Original City location Loved the map integration of Resi 2 and 1 mixed in together
also would like to throw the persona series in this too (even though they started as smt, they moved on to be thier own series), and sorry, i never really did get into contra. im more of a jrpg fan lol
Megami Ibunroku Persona, and the following Persona games, were always their own series in the greater MegaTen franchise. In the US, it falls under Shin Megami Tensei, like everything else, because that's the most well known branding.
Well, in the US release of Sacred Stones' defense, they actually made that game more balanced, because the Japanese version had promoted enemy units with the same stats at a given level as their unpromoted class counterparts and the trainee units had pretty nice stat growths for all 50 of their levels.
Of course, since they didn't do enough, FESS is still one of the easiest games ever in the series and still a serious step down from Blazing Sword... which in itself was a step down from Sealed Sword. Which was a step down from Thracia 776.
A more retro one for you
Shining Force, obviously the Main series so Shining Force and Shining Force II for the Megadrive/Genesis then Shining Force III scenario's 1 2 and 3 (Premium CD was just a bonus)
Later Shining Games are totally different, the series ends with the trio of Shining Force III 5 games in total, there is a prequal but the game is completly different so does not fit the main series called Shining in the Darkness or Shining and the Darkness (Think one is the Jap name name for it, I forget, it's a nice but rather dated 3D dungeon crawler, but uses the classic Shining Force battle system ish, I say ish because it's not a strategy game, also for the Megadrive/Genesis, the tome line is also debated for that one be it before or after Shining Force)
Shining Force CD was a side story game taken from the GameGear games and are not part of the main series but still good but lack some of the game play from the Megadrive/Genesis games
Why no? I thought the first GBA game was great, I loved the map they used in SS, the skill system in PoR, the factions in Radiant Dawn, Shadow Dragon's reclassing system, and Awakening's combo of a bunch of those things. Keep in mind I limited my statement to the Fire Emblems released in North America. I haven't played any of the others although I have them all on my HDD with the fan translations for when my backlog gets a little more lean.
I would say Zelda works in this context.
