Just installed the game to find out. I thought I was wrong for a minute because I didn't find any options, but as it turns out the reason is I have a logitech dual action gamepad. If you hit the mode button on it, d-pad becomes movement and analog switches to camera.
I remember what joytokey is good for.

Basically, say space is jump. You'll open up joytokey, select the button on the joypad you want to map, then hit space. So when you hit that button on the joypad, it emulate space. I don't know how this is going to help you though, I don't think you can use it with an axis.
I normally never have to troubleshoot/help people with troubleshooting joypads btw, thats why I don't know of any good apps :|
