This is the Cover for my Manga, Secret of Ayo Kana.
What's to see? The Ruins of the ancient city Ayo Kana. In the BG is the mysterious Gate, painted in pure black.
The name was done with Gimp; thus this part is digital art.

Pinapa

My crew is staring at a Pinapa, a parasitic plant.
The roots are going deep and wide, stabilizing the plant as well as collecting minerals and water, the two main resources of the Pinapa.
The trunk is steel-hard, protecting the Pinapa against most ground-living creatures.
The round balls in the middle are energy storing leafs, connected to a "grain", which is diverting nutrient from the tree to the Pinapa.
The treetop collects light-energy to keep the Pinapa alive and sprouts the limbs carrying the "grains" to the trees surrounding the Pinapa.
Technique: Acrylics
Size: 60x60 cm
Time needed: ca. 8 days

Pretty spontaneus project. Since the rather random pencil drawing worked out extraordinaryly well, I started coloring this one with GIMP, but then turned back to the traditional way.

Finally I really painted all my characters in their new design in an extra painting.
From left to right:
Marco, Maria, Serge, Angelo. The one in the front is Fernando.
These guys are the main characters in my first manga, "Secret of Ayo Kana - Side Quest #1".
I wanted to pose them as if someone was taking a photo of them (including some parts disappearing out of the picture XD).
