New Star Trek series Jan 2017...:trek:
It won't be related to the new movie series (which some fans argue is an alternate universe story).
I'm not seeing any details about the show besides Kurtzman being involved, CBS airing the first ep and then the rest of the series going to All Access streaming service. This may or may not work :|
I recall one rumour fairly recently about a show being set years after the last tv series (Federation).

I don't think that would really work. But we'll see what happens.
That link was from earlier this year. Yeah the details I looked at are a lot older though:

Well they could always get someone to play a young Picard and follow the adventures of the Stargazer instead
I just hope they continue on after Nemesis (2379) so I figured very early 25th wouldn't be that much of a stretch. They proved with Enterprise that something going too far back in the Trek timeline wasn't all that popular.
That's why the Federation (or something like it) idea is more likely. Set way in the future, everybody that was in other shows is dead, they can pretty much do whatever they want with sets etc.
If it's set close to older series then the whole Enterprise scenario rears its ugly head...obvious things like using LCD screens and the like in an era before TOS.
Enterprise is bad and good though. I don't mind it so much now but the Captain is still fucking annoying.
DS9 is bad in that way too though.
They should dust off Jonathan Frakes and Marina Sirtis and have a show about the Titan :revwacko:
If they go too far in the future though the whole Federation "time council" thing may rear it's ugly head. All the temporal garbage in Enterprise killed it for me personally. Although I didn't mind the first season when it was more exploring for the first time sorta deal.
The temporal cold war thing only existed because it was necessary. I suspect that could be written out of anything new.
