The other trick is to draw large. 11" x 17" is the standard (I just used two standard pieces of printer paper taped together, I'm too cheap to get expensive artists paper). That makes the lines look sharper once scanned and resized properly, a lot of smaller errors vanish.
I can understand trying to make it look neater in Photoshop, but I still have trouble doing that with its paintbrush tool ("B" Hotkey)
