The dm1 I mentioned was less than $300 months ago (quite a while actually).
Basically like a netbook but slightly better.
11.6" led screen (1366 × 768), Radeon HD 6320, can run 8GB max DDR3 (shared), 320GB HDD, win7 64bit, wlan & bluetooth.
No optical drive of course. And the intel versions of this model aren't as good: onboard graphics is inferior plus it can only take 6GB max (which is shared anyway).

Acer aren't all that good in my experience.
Plenty of people bash HP's all the time, but of all the laptops of theirs I've had anything to do with there's only one (which would have to be 6+ years old now) that has a screen issue atm.
Probably just a bad connection/cable through the hinge assembly, because the screen itself is still working fine if it's positioned right.
