Disc eject.
Turn off the PS3 at the back power switch.
Now put your finger on the power on button at the front panel, keep your finger there.
Switch on power at the back switch, still keeping your finger on the front switch.
The fan will sound loud doing this, it isn't just an emergency disc eject function it's also a fan test.
After getting your disc out of the console you can see if it will turn on again.
If it doesn't then you could try pulling the HDD out and turning the console on.
Besides checking to see if the HDD is the issue I'm not sure what you can do in your situation
Are you sure it doesn't show green light, then yellow very briefly, then red light?
It shouldn't be overheating if it isn't summer there, but then overheating is still possible as the fats have poor quality thermal adhesive between the chips and spreaders (I'm not talking about the thermal compound issue, which isn't difficult to replace yourself).
Even if it's ylod it should still do the fan test. I have 2x fats here that are ylod and will still do a fan test before shutting off.
Maybe it's the psu that's the problem? :thot:
And it won't complete a fan test properly? The test doesn't last long but you know it's working because the fan sounds like a jet
