Now, I don't hate Harper -- he has done some good things, and some of his policies I'm actually on board with -- but once he starts to earn a bit of good will with me, he goes ahead and decides to shit it away into some kind of diarrhea stew.

Then again, I am tired of elections right now. How many have we had? Four in the last 6-7 years? Didn't we just re-elect him less than a year ago and give him the majority? No, we wouldn't be that retarded, would we...?

Sounds about right.

And really the only reason he got a majority was because the left wing splintering is less insane than the right wing splintering.

Nobody votes Bloc (or one of the equally absurd splinter groups (Americans: see Tea Party) but then the NDP had to go and have a decent election while the Liberals were busy tripping over themselves (but not enough to outright forfeit their base).

Which is to say it wasn't all bad. An opposition helmed by a guy who didn't let the fact he was dying stop him from showing up to work? Yes please.

And then he died, robbing that party of one of the few people in that group that doesn't completely have their head up their ass.

So hey, the next election looks better. I guess. Unless someone feels "hey, you know who'd make a good PM? A guy who hasn't been in Canada in years." sounds like a good idea. Again.
